General Description

  • Person must have technical knowledge & minimum 10 years of hands-on experience of HSE implementation at multiple Hydro Site.

 

WHAT YOU’LL DO: Write the purpose for which the job exists

 

  • Lead implementation of Behavior-Based Safety (BBS) program across project sites to improve proactive hazard identification and safe work culture.
  • Conduct regular Safety Audits and Safety Walks to monitor compliance and identify improvement areas.
  • Implement and monitor Toolbox Talk (TBT) system and Work Permit System (PTW) at site.
  • Ensure effective Contractor Safety Management, including induction, compliance monitoring, and performance review.
  • Implement and enforce Andritz Safety Guidelines and Procedures at project sites.
  • Review site safety performance, including near-miss reporting, incident investigation, root cause analysis, and corrective action tracking.
  • Conduct layout-based risk assessments for installation, commissioning, and operational activities.
  • Prepare and implement Site HSE Plan, Emergency Response Plan (ERP), and Fire Safety Plan.
  • Develop Commissioning HSE Plan and ensure strict implementation of Lockout-Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
  • Perform Work at Height risk assessments, including preparation of detailed Rescue Plans.
  • Organize and conduct regular Safety Meetings, Site Inspections, and Audits as per approved checklists.
  • Plan and execute Emergency Mock Drills in line with the Emergency Response Plan.
  • Coordinate with client representatives to ensure compliance with all project-specific safety requirements and statutory regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable statutory regulations including Factories Act, State Factory Rules, PESO, Electrical Safety Rules, and Fire Safety norms.
  • Conduct Job Safety Analysis (JSA) / Task Risk Assessments (TRA) for critical and non-routine activities.
  • Monitor high-risk activities such as hot work, confined space entry, lifting operations, electrical work, and heavy equipment installation.
  • Verify and approve method statements and risk assessments submitted by contractors before execution.
  • Ensure proper scaffolding inspection and tagging system implementation.
  • Monitor lifting plans, crane inspections, and third-party certification compliance.
  • Implement and monitor Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment (HIRA) system at site.
  • Ensure availability and compliance of PPE matrix as per activity and risk category.
  • Conduct regular LOTO audits and electrical isolation verification during commissioning.
  • Monitor fire protection systems, extinguishers, hydrants, and emergency exits for readiness.
  • Maintain site safety statistics, KPI tracking, and monthly safety performance reports.
  • Investigate accidents and dangerous occurrences, prepare detailed incident investigation reports, and ensure closure of corrective actions.
  • Promote near-miss reporting culture and reward safe behavior initiatives.
  • Conduct safety induction training for all employees, contractors, and visitors.
  • Ensure proper housekeeping and material stacking practices to prevent slips, trips, and falls.
  • Monitor environmental aspects such as waste management, hazardous chemical handling, spill control, and pollution prevention measures.
  • Ensure implementation of Permit-to-Work digitization (if applicable) and documentation control.
  • Participate in client safety review meetings and audits, ensuring timely closure of observations.
  • Develop and maintain a site safety register, compliance tracker, and statutory records.
  • Provide safety inputs during project planning, equipment installation, and pre-commissioning activities.

YOU BRING: Experience & Qualifications (Provide information about knowledge required to delve into this role)

  • B. Tech + PGDIS from RLI / CLI / Recognized Institute + M. Tech & NEBOSH (As advantage)
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in HSE management at construction sites; experience at hydro sites will be an added advantage.
  • Professional certifications in environmental management will be considered an added advantage

 

PREFERRED: Information about the knowledge required for the job which is not mandatory to possess.

  • Proven experience in safety implementation at major construction sites.
  • Hands-on experience in implementing ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018 management systems at major construction sites.
