Purpose Statement

The quality control lead is responsible for all quality control activities of the production facility in Oldsmar. The quality lead job description involves monitoring the manufacturing and production processes to ensure that products are made in accordance with requirements and specification.

 

They make sure that all quality control documentation is produced up-to-date and maintained on file as per requirement. It is also the duty of the quality control lead to evaluate, maintain, and improve the existing quality management system.

 

Job responsibilities and tasks

  • Oversees the quality of all products by performing quality control activities, implementing quality standards, and providing feedback to the production team. 
  • Oversees calibration of tools and gauges according to ISO9001.
  • Performs part inspections checking for abnormalities in products, out of specification conditions and other non-conformities.
  • Oversees quarantine of parts and materials when necessary.
  • Develops and maintains quality control documents, including procedures, inspections plans, non-conformance reports, corrective action requests, and scrap reports.
  • Ensures all products are processed through Quality Control in a timely and effectient manner.
  • Moving parts and material safely is a requirement of this position and will be done manually, with use of cranes and lifting devices, and with forklifts.
  • Using appropriate PPE at all times – safety glasses and safety shoes are required.

 

Education, professional experience, and qualifications.

  • At least High School Graduate, College/University Degree is a plus (technical or administrative field preferred)
  • Minimum of 5 years working experience in a quality assurance role in a manufacturing environment
  • Must be able to read and understand part prints, and use common inspection tools and gauges – mics, calipers, height gauges, thread gauges, bore gauges, etc.
  • Some experience with ISO9001 is preferred.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with those around him/her, as well as with other departments to exchange information/data on issues that may affect the production process.
  • Must possess good analytical skills to determine probable causes of product defects and determine appropriate corrective actions.
  • Must be able to uphold the integrity of our quality system, even under pressure and time constraints.
  • Strong organizational skills, especially documentation and record keeping, organizing the work, and prioritizing activities.
  • Must be computer literate, experience with Word, and Excel. SAP is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must be able to operate a forklift or be willing to learn.
  • Must be willing to work extended hours when required.

 

Physical and Mental Qualifications

Candidate is required to sit, stand, walk, bend, reach, push, pull, kneel, ascend/descend stairs, and routinely lift up to 30 lbs. Must possess good mobility, visual acuity, hearing, coordination, and manual dexterity.
