SUPERVISOR (Precision Grinding Shop – 3rd Shift)

We are seeking a hands-on production supervisor to lead the safe, efficient, and timely manufacture of high-quality refiner plates. In this role, you will supervise approximately 8–30 hourly employees, coordinate daily production activities, develop team members, and help achieve performance goals related to safety, quality, productivity, cost, and on-time delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

·        Champion workplace safety initiatives and reinforce safe work practices and employee accountability.

·        Lead daily production activities across assigned areas and ensure an effective handoff between shifts.

·        Communicate and consistently apply company policies, procedures, values, and health and safety requirements.

·        Ensure production meets established standards for quality, efficiency, cost, and on-time delivery.

·        Train, coach, cross-train, and evaluate employees while fostering engagement, teamwork, and professional development.

·        Maintain accurate production records, reports, time records, and leave approvals.

·        Monitor materials, supplies, tools, and equipment and initiate purchase requisitions when needed.

·        Partner with maintenance to coordinate work requests and equipment support.

·        Participate in 5s, lean manufacturing, structured problem-solving, and continuous improvement initiatives.

·        Support annual departmental goals and remain flexible to work required shifts or schedules based on operational needs.

Qualifications

Required:

·        Demonstrated ability to lead others and consistently uphold company policies, procedures, and safety requirements.

·        Clear written and verbal communication skills, basic mathematical ability, and strong attention to detail.

·        Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

·        Ability to maintain accurate records, reports, and other required documentation.

·        Willingness and ability to complete required training and maintain role-specific qualifications.

·        Ability to safely operate fork trucks, floor cranes, high lifts, and other mobile equipment after required training and authorization.

Preferred:

·        Previous supervisory or leadership experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.

·        Experience applying 5S principles, lean manufacturing practices, and continuous improvement methods.

·        Experience leading initiatives that improve safety, quality, productivity, manufacturing cost, and/or lead time.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

This position works in a manufacturing environment with exposure to varying temperatures, elevated noise levels, dust, dirt, fumes, welding equipment, and industrial devices. The role may require sitting, standing, walking, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, kneeling, stooping, crouching, climbing, grasping, using stairs, and working in confined or restricted spaces. Lifting more than 50 pounds and working extended hours may be required. Employees must wear designated personal protective equipment and perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
