Your Tasks
Metallurgic and material consultancy
- You will support ANDRITZ engineers, project, sales and supply chain managers with in‑depth expertise in metallurgy and materials science.
- You will provide expert consultation, particularly for casting technology and the metallurgy of cast components.
- You will assist local and global entities in the development, evaluation, and qualification of raw material suppliers, with particular emphasis on foundries.
- You will cooperate closely with quality and engineering teams to assess material quality, define qualification concepts, develop technical delivery specifications, and support the resolution of material non‑conformities.
- You will plan and execute local material improvement and material testing projects in close collaboration with local engineering and operations teams.
- Your regional focus will be China and South‑East Asia, while working in close alignment with the global Material Competence Center team, headquartered in Graz, Austria.
- You will work in interdisciplinary, international project teams.
- You will actively contribute to the establishment and further development of the Material Competence Center Hub in China / Far East.
- You will build and maintain a strong regional network of external research institutes, testing laboratories, and technical partners in the field of metallurgy and materials science.
- Your professionalism, personal commitment, and teamwork will lead to a continuous increase in demand in the Far East region. This should result in an expansion of the Material Competence Center Hub in the medium term, ideally under your management.
Your Profile
- Master’s degree Metallurgy or Material Science, PhD in a metallurgical field welcome
- Industry experience in the field of casting technology or general metallurgy welcome
- Sound understanding of metallurgy of steel and metallic materials. Good knowledge of their production processes and quality requirements.
- Sound understanding of alloy design, microstructure-property relationships and its correlation with manufacturing processes. Knowledge of material testing techniques.
- Willingness and ability to work in an international team.
- Good level of English & Chinese, written and spoken. Other languages are a plus.
- Strong interpersonal and team working skills, sound judgment and decision-making skills.
- Ability to maintain strong network relations to stakeholders within a global organization
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to understand technical problems in design, engineering, and operation of machines and processes and to identify material-based solutions.
- Ability to work on multiple projects in a highly structured and organized manner.
- Good knowledge of MS Office Suite (e.g. Excel, Power Point, Copilot).
- Willingness to travel up to 50% to our locations, factories and construction sites worldwide
