The Electrical Engineer requires a highly motivated and detailed individual who is self-directed and able to manage multiple projects and is able to professionally engage with customers. Candidate must be able to organize and maintain accurate and complete electrical document packages for Capital and Aftermarket projects in compliance with company approved documentation procedures. This is a senior position requiring the ability to design and support installation, commissioning, and operations training of ANDRITZ thermal sludge treatment systems, (Belt Dryers, Fluid Bed Dryers and Drum Dryers), used to process and dry municipal biosolids to produce recycled material and fuel for energy conservation.

 

What You Will Be Doing

 

Here’s an overview of your responsibilities and how you can leverage your expertise:

 

Electrical Engineering

  • Responsible for interpreting customer specifications and drawing requirements, along with industrial standards such as NFPA, CSA, UL508 and NEMA and translating these requirements into component bills of material and electrical drawings for the design and fabrication of process controls equipment and systems used primarily in wastewater treatment and food processing plants. Control system design includes MCC’s, PLC and RIO control panels, as well as specifying and sizing field instrumentation for machine regulation, monitoring and safety.
  • Interfaces with customer’s electrical and process engineering representatives as required during specification and bidding, submittal design, fabrication, factory testing, and final commissioning stages of the project.
  • Generates electrical approval and certified drawing packages while ensuring accuracy and completeness for customer submission and fabrication in accordance with contract definition.
  • Research and approve vendor equipment acceptability based upon electrical application and previous experience of similar jobs.
  • Executes a proper balance between electrical design and cost effectiveness to maintain quality and established budgets.
  • Assures all electrical equipment meets or exceeds customer satisfaction and can perform FAT and SAT demonstrations and can assist in customer training at jobsite.
  • Must be able to manage and solve problems with the customer and coordinate those resolutions with project management while continuing to act as liaison for the company at the jobsite.
  • Generate reports on status of job site activities and on-site issues to be resolved on a daily basis.
  • Understanding process controls terminology and instrumentation. Able to read and create P&ID drawings.
  • Proficient in the use of AutoCAD as a drawing tool, MS Word, MS Excel and MS Access.
  • Ability to communicate with representatives and all levels of company personnel.
  • Provides technical expertise to electricians as required.
  • Performs on-site electrical start up and troubleshooting as required. Performing loop checks and documenting them using established procedures and forms.
  • Debugging PLC and HMI code.
  • Making mechanical adjustments to wastewater equipment.
  • Provide phone support to Andritz and customer staff troubleshooting control systems and overall processes.

 

Electrical Programming

  • Design and develop PLC and HMI software applications according to an established programming methodology to meet the requirements and specifications of the project.
  • Allen Bradley RS Logix 5000 programming and HMI programming using Factory Talk View.
  • Familiar with the use and programming of Allen Bradley VFD drives.

 

What We're Looking For

 

When selecting candidates, we will be looking for the following essential skills, abilities, and experience:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering with three to five years of related experience.

Physical Demands

  • The physical demands of this position require the ability to walk, sit or stand for long periods. Requires extended movements including stooping, climbing, bending and lifting or carrying up to 50 lbs. Requires the occasional ability to make visual inspections with precise hand and finger movements, while standing on ladder.

 

Work Environment

  • While reporting to the Electrical Engineering Manager, works closely with Project Manager, Mechanical Engineer, Start-up and Service, Sales and Marketing, Manufacturing, Purchasing and all levels of management

 

Travel Requirements

  • Generally 35%
