Purpose Statement

Andritz seeks a dedicated and experienced financial professional to join our team. The Business Controller is responsible for overseeing all financial activities, including budgeting, forecasting, business controlling, project controlling and analysis, to ensure the financial health and sustainability of the organization. This role involves managing the controlling department staff, providing strategic financial guidance, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations. The Business Controller plays a key role in the development and implementation of financial strategies that align with the organization’s goals.

 

Job Responsibilities and Tasks

Financial Strategy and Planning:

  • Develop and implement the organization’s financial strategy, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Lead the annual budgeting process, including the preparation of quarterly financial forecasts and long-term financial plans.
  • Provide financial analysis and modeling to support strategic decision-making.

Financial Management:

  • Oversee all financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, business controlling, and financial reporting.
  • Manage working capital and optimize financial performance.[PK1.1]
  • Monthly/Yearly reporting package preparation and review for U.S. and Canadian Divisions financial statements.
  • Support interim, annual and internal audit processes working closely with CFO and VP of Finance.
  • Identify and implement consistent accounting/controlling policies and procedures between US and Canadian divisions and other divisions.
  • Ad hoc reporting to support various other departments such as Tax, Insurance, Legal and Treasury
  • Maintain and develop reporting and budgeting tools

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Lead and mentor the controlling team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
  • Establish performance metrics and manage the controlling team to achieve organizational goals.

Compliance and Risk Management:

  • Ensure compliance with all financial regulations, tax laws, and internal policies.
  • Identify financial risks and implement strategies to mitigate them.
  • Liaise with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory bodies as needed.

Stakeholder Management:

  • Present financial results and insights to the executive team, board of directors, and other key stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with other Pulp and Paper divisions.
  • Collaborate with other department heads to provide financial guidance and support.
  • Work in a matrix organization with accountability to local management as well as Global Controller’s and stakeholders.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Education, professional experience, and preferred/required qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Master’s degree and/or CPA preferred
  • At least 10 years experience in progressively mid to senior -level financial or accounting/audit positions, ideally with a large international corporation.
  • Demonstrated supervisory capabilities.
  • Skilled in financial analysis, preparation of statements and corporate reporting.
  • Able to identify risks as well as opportunities to provide feedback on decisions affecting financial results of the company.
  • Strong PC skills with proficiency in Word, Excel, Power Point. Familiarity with SAP or similar ERP accounting systems.
  • Experience with OLAP tools would be beneficial
  • Report writing skills using Andritz systems
  • Copilot experience.

Additional Information

  • Hybrid schedule (Tue – Thr in office, Mon & Fri remote)
  • Some travel required to support locations including international travel occasionally.
