SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS:

The focal point for all mechanical design activities related to hydroform products in North America. Working closely with production, hydroform sales, and purchasing, modify and create hydroform designs to suit the North American market, running FEA on new parts, designing laser fixtures, load tables as required. Review and follow-up on die designs with suppliers, enter spare parts into SAP. 

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Using CAD to create parts and tooling for Hydroform products. 
• Working closely with Purchasing and engineering review and adapt existing designs for economic manufacture in North America. 
• Develop and maintain standards and specifications for NA sourced Hydroform products.
• Support hydroform sales with layouts, costs and concept designs for hydroform products.
• Participate in customer and supplier design reviews.
• Interfaces with the internal and external customers and suppliers as needed to resolve design related issues and technical concerns.
• Create manufacturing drawings, BOM and documentation for locally sourced hydroform products.
• Run Autoform simulations on new and current products to assess feasibility. 

REQUIREMENTS:

• At least two (2) years' experience in CAD, familiar with CATIA and/or Solidworks.
• Autoform or stamping simulation knowledge would be a benefit. 
• SAP knowledge would be a plus
• Experience with mechanical design for machine tools. 
• Must be able and willing to travel if required. 
• Proficient user of Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
• Highly organized and time conscious.

• Fluent in English with advanced reading and writing skills
• Visa holders/English as Second Language (ESL) individuals must take TOEFL exam and score above passing grade.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:

• Reports to the SHD Engineering Manager, close working relationship with SHD sales manager and SHD production personnel. 

MISCELLANEOUS

• Performs other duties as required or assigned, which are reasonably within the scope of the duties in this job classification.
