General Description: 

 

The Shipping-Receiving Personnel are to load and unload trucks in a safe and timely manner while complying with all company rules and regulations. On the job training will be provided that meets these specification and requirements and the employee is expected to maintain these standards after completion of training period.

 

Job Responsibilities and Tasks:

  • Bring trucks into the building for loading and or unloading safely and in an orderly fashion.
  • Check all paperwork and make sure it is correct for receiving the roll body into the system for regrind or recover.
  • Take photos of roll as received on the truck prior to unloading.
  • Select the proper cables or straps, inspect completely and then perform the unloading of the roll.
  • Rolls arriving on flatbeds will be weighed when arriving.  Smaller items in vans/small trucks are weighed when departing facility. 
  • Receive the roll per the receiving form and fill in all blanks on the form.
  • Check for existing serial numbers or machine numbers on the journal area of the roll and record.  
  • Place the roll body in a safe area on the proper supports.
  • Do the entire receiving process and the receiving form and bill of lading is coupled submit to customer service for processing.  Logistics Department will prepare bill of lading.
  • Outgoing shipments require the same protocol for selecting the correct slings, cables or straps for the amount of weight to be moved.  All lifting devices and parts must be inspected prior to the actual lift.
  • Double check all paperwork for completeness, prior to loading any roll for return shipment.
  • Make sure supervision or the quality control manager has signed and approved this roll to ship.
  • Load the roll body on a secure set of blocks or stands for transport on the desired truck.
  • Make sure the load is secure and take outgoing photos with the roll secured and protected.
  • Shipping area must be kept neat and clean free of debris and clutter.
  • Storage area of shipping containers must be kept neat and straight.

Additional duties are also performed along these general instructions on daily basis.

 

Additional Requirements: 

  • Must learn to operate the overhead cranes and use the proper cables or straps according to the load requirements.
  • Must be able to operate a forklift.
  • Must be able to read a diameter tape and a carpenter’s tape for accurate measurements of rolls as received.
  • Basic computer skills required.
  • Proper handling of incoming and outgoing products i.e., identify damage, weighing of rolls, staging of rolls, etc. 
  • Carpentry skills required (building and maintaining roll crates).
  • Follow all safety rules and guidelines.
  • Properly inspect and prepare rolls to be returned to our customers. Outgoing shipping documentation.  Photos taken.
  • Be flexible for overtime and weekend work as required.
  • People skills and clear communication is a must, being cordial and polite.

 

Qualification Requirements: 

  • Education: High School Diploma
  • Experience: On the job training will be provided..
  • Languages: English
