Purpose Statement

Produce wide vareity of screen baskets and rotor designs to be used in recycling, approach flow, kraft mill and mechanical pulp applications.brefiner plate castings for the pulp and paper industry.  Cross-train in multiple foundry operations by performing any combination of the following essential functions.  Must meet all other performance requirements related to skill levels within the job classification.

Job responsibilities and tasks

  • Become an expert in the mechanical and process aspects of Andritz’ screening technology.
  • Support for in house sales, Regional Product manager and Repair and Rebuild Product manager in regards of mill shut down and filed measurements.
  • Provide help and support in the Glens Falls Repair rebuild Screen shop
  • Complete on site and in-house basket and rotor inspection
  • Supervise on site and in-house screen repair and rebuild 
  • Strong communications skills. Must be a very effective listener and good at communicating/promoting ideas, concepts etc. The individual will be spending a high percentage of his/her time communicating with Screening Regional Product Manager, Sales Area Manager, manufacturing engineers and customers
  • Start-up complete screening system, unit machine and screen retrofit.
  • Supports RPM’s and SAM’s for screens retrofits and spare parts Sales.
  • Estimate of costs for manufacturing of screens upgrades and retrofits.
  • Complete and issue quotes of screens upgrades, retrofits and screen parts
    • Develop tools for Screening mass balance and screen sizing

Education, professional experience and qualification preferred/required

  • B.S Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience with industrial equipment design.
  • Experience in a shop working environment.
  • Experience in dealing/developing sub supplier.
  • Experience in Project management
  • Specific experience with the Andritz screening equipment or competitive screening products is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn mechanical aspects of pulp and paper equipment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills.  Must be able to communicate effectively.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, Project and AutoCAD.
  • Familiarity with machining, fabrication and ASME Code is a plus.
  • Ability to help identify customer needs and develop engineering solutions.
  • High capacity of Mechanical Problem solving skill and close attention to details is needed

  • Complete all qualifications and trainings as required to achieve and maintain skill level
  • Read and comprehend written and verbal instructions

  • Use fork trucks, floor cranes, high lifts, and other mobile equipment
  • Participate in activities to improve safety, quality, and reduce manufacturing costs and lead times
  • Communicate effectively and work independently or as a team member
  • Accurately complete required documentation

Physical and Mental Qualifications

Requires ability to work in a manufacturing environment, which may include exposure to varying temperatures and noise levels, dust, dirt, fumes, welding machines, and manual/remote controlled devices using radio signals.  Physical conditions for positions: Sit, stand, walk, bend, reach, push, pull, kneel, stoop, crouch, climb, grasp, ascend/descend stairs, maneuver within tight spaces, and may require lifting in excess of 50 lbs. Must have visual acuity, manual dexterity, ability to endure long hours, and wear required personal protective equipment.  All tasks performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
