Purpose Statement

 

ANDRITZ (PKP-Fiberline) is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our team in the pulp and paper industry. As a Mechanical Engineer, you will play a vital role in designing, developing, and maintaining mechanical systems and equipment used in cooking and fiberline for pulp production. Your expertise will contribute to improving operational efficiency, ensuring equipment reliability, and supporting the overall success of our organization.This position will report to Glens Falls, NY

 

Job responsibilities and tasks

  • Design and develop mechanical systems, machinery, and equipment for pulp and paper production processes.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, analyze technical requirements, and provide innovative solutions to enhance equipment performance and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including process engineers, project managers, and technicians, to ensure seamless integration and optimal functionality of mechanical systems.
  • Perform calculations, simulations, and modeling to validate designs and optimize equipment performance.
  • Prepare technical specifications, equipment documentation, and drawings for manufacturing, installation, and maintenance purposes.
  • Conduct inspections, testing, and troubleshooting of mechanical equipment to identify and resolve any issues or malfunctions.
  • Stay updated with industry advancements, best practices, and regulatory requirements related to mechanical engineering in the pulp and paper industry.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to source high-quality materials, components, and equipment for projects.
  • Assist in project planning, cost estimation, and resource allocation to ensure timely and successful project execution.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to production teams, maintenance personnel, and other stakeholders.

Education, professional experience and qualification preferred/required

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience working as a Mechanical Engineer in the pulp and paper industry or process industry, with a strong understanding of production processes and equipment.
  • Proficient in using CAD software for design and drafting purposes.
  • In-depth knowledge of mechanical principles, thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and material science.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex issues and provide practical solutions.

Physical and Mental Qualifications

  • Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with industry standards, regulations, and best practices related to mechanical engineering in the pulp and paper industry.
  • Experience with project management principles and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on precision and accuracy in design, documentation, and testing.
  • Strong commitment to safety standards and a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating risks.
