We are looking for a  Senior Buyer who will be responsible for coordinating and managing purchasing activities for the local project portfolio to ensure that all purchases are made in compliance with Federal, State or Private Industry requirements, Company policies and procedures, and in a manner that is consistent with the needs of the company.

 

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Purchase large, heavy custom-engineered parts for hydropower plant refurbishment.  
  •  Coordinate complex purchasing concepts with a multitude of unique parts, specialized services, and negotiated terms.   
  • Identify suppliers ideally suited for meeting each purchase request from engineering, negotiate costs and delivery dates, and create purchase orders in Andritz SAP (ASAP). 
  • Uses SRM to manage supplier contracts, agreements, certificates, etc. 
  • Support commercial management in handling complicated customs issues. 
  • Supporting the Project Manager, Purchasing Manager, and others in implementing their purchasing requirements. 
  • Communicate purchasing details with job sites, and swiftly reacts to changes as necessary. 
  • Addressing vendor quality issues and handling complaints.  
  • Issuing status reports on projects - reporting (weekly reports, statistics, etc.) using SAP-BI 
  • Maintain well documented files to accurately present a clear audit trail with regards to vendor contract performance, which is also used for vendor ratings. 
  • Coordinate the implementation of procurement processes and tools (e.g. SRM, BI, COQ,…) 
  • Other activities as required to support purchasing functions. 
  • Participate, drive and/or lead improvement projects in the procurement area
  • Ensure all purchases are made in accordance with Federal, State, Municipal, Private customer contracts, company policies and procedures.  
  • Work closely with personnel to locate and develop new sources of supply and offer lower cost alternatives.  
  • Monitor deliverables to keep abreast of potential changes that could affect costs and/or schedules.  
  • Coordination of the buyers and project portfolio load in the department

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in business with a concentration in supply chain preferred 
  • Logistics min 3-5 years business experience. 
  • Experience in purchasing large industrial components and/or complex engineered parts (castings or machined parts).  Experience in production control, expediting, logistics and/or EPC projects is preferred. 
  • Worldwide sourcing experience including excellent logistics knowledge to deliver parts to job sites in the US. 
  • Experience in procuring large service contracts. 
  • 3-5 years of ERP system experience (SAP is a plus). 
  • Strong computer skills (MS Excel, Access, Word, Project).  Familiarity with scheduling software is a plus. 
  • Knowledge of contract law, terms and conditions, sourcing, total cost of ownership and supply chain principals.
