Summary:

 

The primary duties of the Senior Tax Accountant will be to oversee the Company’s U.S. domestic compliance, accounting, and reporting for taxes. This position will assist tax management in achieving day-to-day departmental goals, working with both internal resources and external service providers.  The Senior Tax Accountant will have opportunities to contribute to strategic departmental projects as he/she improves efficiency in the day-to-day processes.  This position will report to the Tax Director, with direct exposure to the VP of Tax.  The position will be based in our Alpharetta offices.

 

 

Responsibilities of the Senior Tax Accountant:

 

  • Prepares and files quarterly US federal and state income and franchise tax estimates and extensions.
  • Oversees and coordinates the preparation of US federal and state income and franchise tax returns.
  • Prepares U.S. year-end tax provision calculation and journal entries.
  • Maintains tax filing calendars for the department.
  • Prepares miscellaneous other filings and reports such as property tax returns, business licenses, and Form 1042. 
  • Responds to tax notices and tax audit requests.
  • Assist with tax research.
  • Completes monthly tax accounting processes, including FIN 48 calculations, cash tax reporting, and reconciling tax accounts.
  • Participates in special projects as requested, including but not limited to the following:
    • Mergers and liquidations
    • Tax software administration and implementation
    • Calculation and billing of management fees
    • State tax modeling
    • Tax method changes.

 

  • Refines and improves data collection and other departmental processes.

 

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance with 3-6 years of related income and franchise tax experience; Masters degree or CPA preferred.  
  • Strong analytical skills and understanding of accounting records, financial statements, and financial reporting. 
  • Self-motivated problem solver who is detail oriented. 
  • Successful working independently or as a team, in person and virtually.  
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, capable of communicating critical and complex information in a concise and actionable manner.
  • High level of demonstrated technical proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint). 
  • Prior experience with tax provision software is a plus.
