As the Manager – Electrical Power Systems you will be responsible for leading our team of technically-savvy engineers while driving sustainable growth in the area of industrial Electrical Power Systems (EPS) throughout the North American region. This key position requires a combination of skills including business development, project management, and technical leadership.


Our EPS team enjoys tackling the most complex MV and HV industrial projects from conception through commissioning in various industries. Their project portfolio is diverse, but some of the most typical projects include HV air insulated substations, MV switchgear design, power system SCADA, generators, protection and control, and relay settings.

Responsibilities may include but are not necessarily limited to the following: 

  • As an EPS subject matter expert, provide technical leadership and guidance to a team of engineers and project stakeholders.
  • Develop an EPS portfolio with tools and templates that the business development team  can use to generate opportunities.
  • Develop, review, and approve opportunities brought in by the Sales Team and provide assistance to close the sale technically.
  • Assist with large capital project development, including feasibility studies, project scope definitions, preliminary engineering designs, and capital cost estimates.
  • Estimate medium voltage and high voltage industrial EPS.
  • Articulate design concepts to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Develop, review and present technical specifications, proposals, and detailed engineering reports/packages.
  • Review EPS studies: short circuit, load flow, arc flash protection and coordination, grounding, harmonic, etc.
  • Provide project management and oversee project coordination to ensure accurate and timely billing, financial reporting, and scheduling.
  • Manage customer expectations through regular consultation and responsiveness.
  • Network with industry groups and professional organizations to establish the presence and reputation of the Company.
  • Ensure that EPS project activities adhere to the quality standards established by the Company and industry standards.
  • Grow, lead, and develop the EPS team while maintaining a high level of employee morale.

When selecting candidates, we will be looking for the following essential skills, abilities, and experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in electrical engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ in North American brownfield MV and HV electrical power system design
  • Minimum of 5 years’ consulting experience, preferably in industrial engineering
  • Experience leading a successful, engaged team of professionals an asset
  • Proven ability to successfully manage and deliver MV and HV electrical power system projects
  • Strong business acumen and desire to develop sales
  • Experience in pulp & paper, mining, and/or chemical industries
  • Familiarity with power system analysis software such as SKM Power*Tools, ETAP, or EasyPower an asset
  • Familiar with modern digital relays such as SEL, GE, Basler, or Areva
  • Experience with generators and their associated protection & control systems an asset
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication and presentation skills (English)
  • Practical knowledge of North American standards (CSA, IEEE, ANSI, NEC)
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada or the US
  • Ability and willingness to travel to domestic and international sites (typically 10-30%).
