The Automation Solutions division is seeking an Automation Director for Optimization in Pulp and Paper (OPP) North America. The Automation Director is responsible for managing and developing the OPP product group within the assigned region while leading a group of highly specialized engineers. This position is also responsible for driving product growth by working closely with various stakeholders to identify and fulfill product gaps, implement strategy, and deliver a strong customer experience.

 

Responsibilities may include but are not necessarily limited to the following:

  • Work together with the Global Vice President of Optimization – Pulp & Paper, the North America Sales team and ANDRITZ Service Account Managers (SAMs) to develop and implement a plan for the promotion of OPP services and solutions; throughout the region to deliver order income, sales and profitability targets;
  • Identify opportunities and propose solutions to customers for savings and efficiency enhancement;
  • Support the Sales team with detailed technical proposals and cost estimates;
  • Consult and negotiate with customers to explain proposals, and present engineering reports;
  • Build, lead, and develop a team of professionals, including recruitment and selection, training, and performance management;
  • Between the operations, business development and technology, coordinate, the necessary human and technology resources to delivery projects successfully while supporting the target growth rate for the region in a sustainable way;
  • Seek to maintain a high level of employee morale through regular communication and team building activities;
  • Act as a technical resource person and provide technical guidance as required;
  • Oversee project coordination to ensure accurate billing, time accounting, and financial reporting;
  • Conduct resource forecasting for the region and allocate resources based on capacity and skillset, ensuring resources are effectively utilized;
  • Focus on the customer relationship and satisfaction while driving the OPP delivery team to achieve agreed OPP regional contract’s technical and financial performance guarantees;
  • Establish and maintain contact with clients to ensure that technical and other project matters are being satisfactorily addresses and any issues are being promptly resolved to ensure overall customer satisfaction;
  • Attend conferences and network with industry groups and professional organizations to establish the presence and reputation of the Company;
  • Ensure that the activities of the product group adhere to the quality standards established by the Company and relevant industry standards;
  • Work in collaboration with ANDRITZ global teams, searching and offering technical support outside of its region of responsibility;
  • Embody, demonstrate, and reinforce the ANDRITZ values.

 

When reviewing candidates, we will be looking for the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in chemical, process, electrical, or automation and control engineering;
  • Minimum of nine (9) years’ experience in industrial automation and control engineering;
  • Minimum of seven (7) years’ experience in project management;
  • Minimum of five (5) years’[ experience with industrial Advanced Process Control technologies;
  • Deep understanding of Pulp & Paper processes;
  • Knowledge of instrumentation and electrification;
  • Strong business acumen and desire to develop product growth and passionately lead a team of high performing professionals;
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, including the ability to present to others;
  • Legally authorized to work in the US;
  • Ability and willingness to travel to domestic and international sites;
  • Ability to lead a diverse team of professionals in a fluid and effective way;
  • High energy, driven and adaptable;

 

Other valued, but non-essential skills, abilities, and experience include:

  • Consulting engineering experience;
  • Previous user of Metris;
  • Knowledge of Advanced Process Controls for Pulp & Paper Industry;
  • Knowledge of Advanced Data Analytic applications in continuous industrial processes.
