General Description
We are looking for a Plant Manager to drive continuous improvement and optimization of all processes at our textile plant. The Plant Manager will oversee all daily operations of the plant from production and manufacturing to ensuring policies and procedures are followed. They develop processes that will maximize stewardship, safety, quality and productivity.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS
- LEADERSHIP: Provide motivation to plan, organize, direct and run optimum day-to-day operations to exceed our customers’ expectations; lift the spirits of the team and ralley them on in a positive way
- SAFETY: Commit to, implement, and proactively enforce plant and organizational safety procedures and policies
- QUALITY CONTROL: Continuously develop and/or improve existing systems; perform routine assurance checks to help ensure plant success
- PLANNING: Increase production assets capacity and flexibility while minimizing unnecessary costs and maintaining quality standards; create an effective timeline for work and completing tasks
- RESPONSIBILITY: Be responsible for production output, product quality and on-time shipping, and safety
- FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT: Properly allocate and fully utilize funds, resources, and assets to produce optimal results
- DECISION MAKING: Implement strategies in alignment with strategic initiatives and provide a clear sense of direction and focus
- COMMUNICATION: Openly engage employees to create transparency and cross-department cooperation
- STAFF UTILIZATION: Share a trusting relationship with staff and recruit, manage and develop them to ensure they are performing essential tasks to maximize efforts; make necessary adjustments so that performance and productivity can continue to improve
- EFFICIENCY: Develop systems and processes that track and optimize productivity and standards, metrics, and performance targets to ensure effective return on assets; collect and analyze data to find places of waste or overtime
- NEGOTIATION: Address employees’ issues or union grievances; develop supply partners that support our production objectives and profitability
- ADAPTABILITY: Stay up to date with latest production management best practices and concepts
- MAINTENANCE: Repair and replace plant equipment as needed; maintain proper housekeeping to avoid accidents
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- Education: Four-year degree or equivalent.
- Experience: 10+ years plant management experience or Degree +3 years plant management experience
- Languages: English
- Proven work experience as a plant manager in a manufacturing environment with a preference for Pulp & Paper, textiles and or plastics
- Union experience and negotiation union contracts is a must
- Proven managerial experience
- Familiarity with industry standard equipment and technical expertise
- Strong team building, decision-making and people management skills
- High mechanical aptitude
