ANDRITZ Job Opportunity: Experienced Manual Machinist – Scott Depot,WV

 

Job Description:
Set up and operate a variety of machine lathes/mills in the repair of rotating equipment. May also fabricate and modify parts in the maintenance of industrial machines. Requires the application of mechanics, shop mathematics, layout, and machining procedures. MIG and TIG welding capability is preferred. Positive attitude required.

 

Duties
• Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and Vernier calipers.
• Machine parts to specifications using a variety of machine tools (i.e. manual lathes, milling machines, drill press etc.) CNC does not apply
• Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process
• Inspect and measure machinery to help determine the best procedures for repair.
• Set up, adjust, and operate all of the basic machine tools and many specialized or advanced variation tools in order to perform precision machining operations
• Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto manual engine lathes
• Understands the importance of safe work practices. Safety is the top priority.

 

Requirements
• High school or technical school graduate
Minimum 5 years of experience as a machinist (manual lathes), is required with references.
• Recent employment as a machinist
• Proficient in blueprint reading
• Proficient in taking measurements to the .001” and in using micrometers, calipers and other precision instruments
• Strong math skills
• The applicant should be fully conversant with the metric system
Should own a comprehensive set of tools used by a mechanic working on precision equipment
