Our ANDRITZ Separation Service Centre in Saskatoon, SK, is seeking a General Labourer to join our team. This is an entry-level union position intended to support the manufacturing environment within the Service Centre.  In the first 24 months of employment, working under close supervision of more senior employees, and through on-the-job training and specialized company-sponsored formal training where required, the incumbent will be involved with and develop an overall understanding of various work processes and specific tasks required to ensure a clean, efficient, and safe working environment.  The General Labourer will familiarize themselves with local and Company policies and practices related to their employment with ANDRITZ Separation.  They will develop skills necessary to perform a range of basic tasks related to the Saskatoon Service Centre activities. This position is considered an entry-level position for employees wishing to progress into more senior Service Center positions.

 

Activities/tasks may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Occasional delivery or pick-up of materials;
  • Lifting, carrying, moving equipment;
  • Sweeping and clean-up of area;
  • Parts surface preparation;
  • Basic Painting; sandblasting, metal cutting
  • Application and removal of ceramic tiles
  • Disassembly/Assembly of parts;
  • Operating standard shop small tools;
  • Basic interpretation of shop instructions, assembly and manufacturing drawings;
  • Basic shipping/receiving functions;
  • Use simple already developed software applications

 

When selecting candidates, we will be looking for the following:

  • Strong mechanical aptitude;
  • Trustworthy, honest, and dependable;
  • Good work ethic;
  • Strong organizational and time management skills;
  • Ability to work as part of a team;
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions;
  • Valid and clean drivers’ license;
  • Willingness to work shifts and occasional overtime to support manufacturing operations;
  • Willingness to work outdoors occasionally.
