Job title:  Fabrication Fitter - Swing Shift

Brief Description 
Use knowledge of welding techniques and processes, metallurgical and material types, material cutting processes (oxy/acetylene and plasma), weld symbols, and engineering blueprints to accomplish production goals. The Fitter will lay out, position, and secure parts and assemblies according to specifications using typical or common fabrication tools (tape measure, tri-square, etc.) and welds. 

Key Responsibilities  
• Intermediate level concept of utilizing blueprints to fit up and fabricate metal components and equipment. • Tack weld, or weld components and assemblies using GMAW, SMAW, and FCAW welding processes. 
• Perform first order inspection to ensure accuracy and dimensions meeting quality standards. 
• Use of jib and overhead cranes to move assembled parts. 
• Demonstrate safe working practices and standards. 
• Assist with coordination of helpers. 
• Adhere to and actively promote the ANDRITZ 8 Life-Saving Rules in all work activities.

Scope of Decision-Making Authority 
1. Health, Safety, and Environment: All employees have the right to refuse any task they believe is 
unsafe and must report such refusals immediately to a supervisor, Human Resources, or the Safety 
Coordinator for investigation. Employees are expected to intervene when they identify unsafe 
conditions or behaviors, including environmental risks, and take steps to prevent injury, illness, or

2. Technical Decisions: Makes routine decisions related to fitting, layout, tack welding, fabrication methods, tool selection, and interpretation of blueprints, weld symbols, and specifications within established procedures and quality standards. Escalates non-routine technical issues, unclear specifications, or deviations from approved methods to the supervisor or appropriate technical resource. 

3. Policy Interpretation: Applies established company policies, work instructions, quality requirements, and shop procedures in day-to-day work. Seeks guidance from the supervisor when policy requirements, procedural expectations, or work instructions are unclear. 

4. Financial Authority: Has no direct financial approval authority. Supports cost-effective work practices by using materials, tools, equipment, and time efficiently and reporting potential waste, rework, or resource concerns to the supervisor. 

5. People & Resource Management: May provide task-level guidance or assistance to helpers or less experienced employees during fabrication activities but does not have direct supervisory authority. Coordinates use of tools, materials, and equipment within assigned work and escalates resource constraints or scheduling concerns to the supervisor. 

6. Continuous Improvement: Identifies and communicates opportunities to improve safety, quality, 
workflow, fabrication methods, tool use, and material handling. May support implementation of approved improvement activities within the scope of assigned work.

Qualifications (Required) 
Education, Licenses, & Certifications:  • High school diploma or GED. 

Experience: 
• 3+ years of experience in welding, metal fabrication, and fitting. • Experience in production or manufacturing within a sheet metal fabrication environment. 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: 
• Working knowledge of oxy-fuel and hand plasma cutting processes. • Ability to operate fabrication equipment, including saws, cold saws, shears, and punch presses.
• Working knowledge of common fabrication tools and their safe, effective use. 
• Good mathematical skills, including addition, subtraction, fractions, decimals, geometry, and trigonometry, with a willingness to continue developing math skills. 
• Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively and interact professionally with personnel at all levels of the organization. 
• Demonstrated commitment to supporting a safe working environment.

Work Schedule
• Due to increased demand, we are starting a swing shift in our WP Ruston, LA manufacturing facility.
• Swing shift hours are 3:30 PM to 2:00 AM.
• Employees assigned to the swing shift are eligible for a shift differential.

Physical Requirements 
• Mobility: Requires standing for extended periods and performing frequent walking, bending, stooping, crouching, reaching, carrying, climbing, and balancing. 
• Manual Dexterity: Requires frequent use of hands and arms to reach for, handle, position, and 
manipulate objects, tools, and materials; requires close vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to 
adjust focus when performing fabrication tasks. 
• Lifting/Carrying: Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. 
• Environmental Factors: Majority of work is performed in a warehouse and manufacturing shop environment; may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, forklifts, electrical hazards, and moderate to high noise levels; requires the ability to communicate verbally and hear instructions, equipment, and safety signals in a manufacturing environment.
