Our Automation & Digitalization team is currently seeking a Senior Electrical & Controls Engineer to join our Richmond, BC office. In this leadership role, you will guide the design, development, and delivery of highvalue electrical and control system solutions that improve productivity, reliability, and sustainability for our North American industrial clients. You will provide technical leadership, oversee project execution, mentor engineering staff, and help shape innovative approaches to automation and digitalization.

 

What You Will be Doing

Here’s an overview of your responsibilities and how you can leverage your expertise:

  • Lead audits of industrial facilities, define project scopes, and develop highlevel engineering concepts, cost estimates, and client recommendations.
  • Oversee and review MV and LV electrical power system designs, ensuring technical quality in electrical room development, equipment selection, grounding strategy, and cable/raceway engineering.
  • Provide advanced protection and control system design, including coordination studies, settings development, and system integration strategies.
  • Lead the development of control and instrumentation systems, shaping control philosophies, P&IDs, architectures, and instrumentation standards.
  • Architect and validate DCS and PLC/HMI solutions, guide control logic strategies, and ensure compliance with project and industry standards.
  • Lead and supervise commissioning efforts, resolving complex technical issues, coordinating with clients and contractors, and ensuring successful system handover.
  • Oversee preparation and approval of tender and construction packages, ensuring completeness, constructability, and alignment with project objectives while mentoring junior staff in documentation standards.

What We’re Looking For

When selecting candidates, we will be looking for the following essential skills, abilities, and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma program in electrical engineering (or similar)
  • Minimum of 8 years’ relevant experience
  • Resourceful, self-managed, and goal driven but still able to work effectively in a team
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills (English)
  • Registered as a P.Eng. in British Columbia
  • Practical knowledge of North American standards
  • Experience coaching junior and intermediate engineers.
  • Previously responsible for client relationships and high-level engineering decisions.
  • Legally authorized to work in Canada
  • Ability and willingness to travel to domestic and international sites (typically 5-20%)

 

Other valued, but non-essential skills, abilities, and experience include:

  • Consulting engineering experience
  • Experience in mining and/or chemical industries
  • Site audit, commissioning, construction, and start-up experience

 

Salary range 120,000 to 160,000; commensurate with experience, based on a 37.5 hour work week.
