The Hydraulic Design Engineer will act as the central hydraulic design resource to support development projects and proposals and associated personnel related to design of hydraulic passageways of hydro turbines at all stages for both new units, runner replacements and rehabilitation projects. This mandate will include the following:
- Perform analysis of design requirements;
- Develop hydraulic design of turbine components of various types;
- Direct involvement with Linz hydraulic laboratory team for the development of model turbines;
- Support bids for preliminary design and reviews;
- Collaborate with colleagues working in various location worldwide;
- Collaborate with the Mechanical Design Engineering team and the Hydraulic Contract Engineer to assure seamless execution of hydraulic development contracts;
- Perform CFD studies;
- Support and contribute to development/definition/modification of hydraulic engineering tools and processes.

- Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering; Master’s degree his highly desirable;
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in hydro engineering;
- Creativity, problem solving skills, and demonstrated consistent attention to detail;
- Strong ability to work in a team environment and excellent communication skills (oral & written);
- Self-directed and proven leadership skills;
- Familiarity with CFD calculations for hydro turbines;
- Ability to perform basic analytical conceptual design for hydro turbines;
- Knowledge of commercial and technical aspects of hydro-electric power plant equipment;
- Interest in programming with ideally some experience in Linux and Python scripting
- Fluency in French and English – spoken and written.
