Brief Description
The Safety Coordinator is responsible for ensuring compliance with occupational health, safety, and environmental regulations. This role leads safety programs, training, inspections, incident investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives to maintain a safe, compliant, and sustainable workplace in accordance with OSHA, ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and company policies.
Key Responsibilities
• 1. Safety Management & Compliance
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, federal, state (Texas), and local safety regulations.
• Implement, maintain, and continuously improve HSE policies, procedures, and standards.
• Monitor compliance with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 requirements.
• Maintain and update legal and regulatory requirements applicable to the organization.
• Support internal and external audits related to HSE, OHAS and ISO systems.
• 2. Training & Competency Management
• Develop and deliver safety training programs for new employees (onboarding).
• Maintain training records and ensure periodic requalification and refresher training.
• Identify training needs and develop competency matrices for employees.
• Conduct toolbox talks, safety meetings, and awareness campaigns.
• 3. Equipment & Operational Safety
• Inspect tools, machinery, and equipment to ensure they are safe and fit for operation.
• Ensure compliance with preventive maintenance and safety standards.
• Verify certifications, permits, and licenses for equipment and operators.
• Support lockout/tagout, confined space, working at height, hot work, and other critical safety programs.
• 4. Incident & Accident Management
• Investigate accidents, incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions.
• Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Prepare incident reports and present findings to management.
• Monitor safety KPIs and performance indicators.
• 5. Environmental Management
• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and permits.
• Manage waste, emissions, spills, and environmental risks.
• Promote environmental awareness and sustainability initiatives.
• Support environmental monitoring and reporting requirements.
• 6. PPE & Safety Resources Management
• Manage PPE inventory, distribution, and compliance.
• Define PPE standards and ensure proper use in the workplace.
• Conduct routine safety inspections in factory, workshops, and field operations.
• 7. Workplace Safety & Continuous Improvement
• Conduct regular safety inspections and audits in production areas and offices.
• Implement and maintain the 5S methodology and safety culture initiatives.
• Identify hazards and conduct risk assessments.
• Drive continuous improvement in safety performance and employee engagement.
• 8. Leadership & Communication
• Promote a strong safety culture across all levels of the organization.
• Act as a safety advisor to managers, supervisors, and employees.
• Participate in safety committees and cross-functional meetings.
• 9. Documentation & Reporting
• Maintain HSE documentation, procedures, manuals, and records.
• Prepare reports for management, audits, and regulatory agencies.
• Ensure proper document control aligned with ISO standards.
• 10. Additional Responsibilities
• Develop emergency response plans and conduct drills.
• Manage contractor safety and supplier HSE requirements.
• Support ergonomics, occupational health, and industrial hygiene programs.
• Implement behavior-based safety (BBS) programs.
• Support corporate ESG and sustainability initiatives.
• Participate in project risk assessments and new process approvals.
• Monitor safety trends and benchmark best practices in the industry.

Job Specific Competencies
• Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 standards, and local/state safety requirements.
• Ability to interpret and apply safety, environmental, and legal requirements in operational environments.
• Competence in risk assessment methodologies (JSA, HIRA, FMEA, HAZOP, etc.).
• Knowledge of industrial safety systems, equipment safety, and preventive maintenance requirements.
• Expertise in incident investigation and root cause analysis (RCA, 5 Why, Fishbone, etc.
• Understanding of environmental regulations, waste management, and pollution prevention.
• Ability to monitor environmental risks and ensure compliance with permits and environmental standards.
Qualifications (Required)
• Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field (preferred).
• OSHA 30 Certification
• Technical degree or equivalent experience may be considered.
• 3–7 years of experience in HSE or safety coordinator in industrial or manufacturing environments.
• Experience with OSHA regulations, ISO 45001, and ISO 14001 systems.
