Position Summary:

We have an opening for a Rotating Equipment Engineer to work in our Pittsburg, TX area.  This role will be accountable for defining and implementing reliable repair methods for customer’s equipment including pumps, centrifuges, and other rotating equipment, requiring best practices around operation and maintenance of rotating equipment.  Skills will include troubleshooting centrifuges, pumps, motors, gearboxes (planetary and cycloid) by methods of comparing measurements to drawing tolerance, oil analysis, vibration analysis, etc.  You will need a solid ability to determine what needs to be repaired and how to repair it by means of welding, machining, thermal coatings by utilizing our world class service center and outside vendors.

 

Major Duties:

  • Troubleshoot centrifuge and gearbox problems.
  • Determine repair plan needed for each component of the rotating equipment and best practice for the repair method. 
  • Face to face interaction with our customers for factory acceptance tests, inspection witness and other interactions requiring our customers to visit the service center.
  • Utilize vibration analysis for troubleshooting problems in rotating equipment both in the field and in the service centers test stand.
  • Review rotating equipment repair practices and documentation and make recommendations for improvement or develop new.
  • Ensure all repair documentation is complete and accurate for rotating equipment repairs.
  • Participate in all project reviews, planning and production meetings for engineering and technical support.
  • Support mechanics and machinists for engineering and technical support as required ensuring engineering bulletins, QAP and other best in class methods are followed.
  • Work with outside vendors concerning outside production, repair methods, quotes, and failure problems on equipment in some projects.
  • Lead and participate in investigations to identify root causes and corrective action
  • Evaluates repair processes by applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials conferring with equipment vendors, soliciting observations from operators which is critical to our continuous improvement.
  • Participate and Sustain Lean Management / 5S initiative
  • Develop standard operating procedures for areas of responsibility.
  • Keeps equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services; following manufacturer’s instructions and established procedures; requesting special service
  • Will communicate and interface with customers and outside employees in a professional capacity.
  • This position may require overtime and occasional travel as needed.

Basic Skills:

  • BS in Engineering; Mechanical Engineering is preferred
  • 3-5 years minimum experience in plant maintenance or rotating equipment engineering
  • Understand Lean management and 5S processes
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Capable of using measurement instruments for tight tolerance requirements
  • The ideal candidate will possess rotating equipment experience (pumps, turbines, centrifuges, rotors etc.…)
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks, or other drawing program expertise
  • Fluent in Microsoft Office Suite software
  • 2 years minimum experience with SAP is preferred
  • 5 years minimum experience with reading drawings, geometric dimensioning, and tolerance (GD&T)
  • Proven ability to work well with fellow employees, vendors, and customers at all levels
  • Self-motivated with minimal Supervision. Demonstrated strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Deal with complexity, informing others, leadership, supervision, Manufacturing Methods and Procedures, Manufacturing Quality, Product Development, Presenting Technical Information

 

Basic Skills Training:

  • Rotating equipment repair, engineering
  • Machine shop and welding practices
  • Service Center Repair and Manufacturing processes
  • SAP, Microsoft Office software, MS Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Root cause analysis reliability fundamentals
  • Production scheduling and knowledge of cycle times
  • Repair and manufacture of centrifuges, belt filter presses and other separation equipment

 

Relationship:

The Rotating Equipment Engineer will report directly to the Plant Manager. 

 

Physical Demands

The physical demands of this position require the ability to sit or stand for long periods of time. Requires extended movements including stooping, bending, and lifting or carrying up to 75 pounds. Make visual inspections with precise hand and finger movements, with reasoning and problem-solving ability.

 

Work Environment

Works closely with the Plant Manager, Production and Planning staff.  Possesses good people skills and works well with persons reporting to him/her, peers, subordinates and senior management throughout the Company.  Projects a professional image to those outside the Company with whom he/she has business contact.
