GENERAL DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a First Shift CNC Machinist to operate our large CNC Horizontal Boring Mills with 5th Axis and any other CNC machining Equipment.  Position reports to the Operations Manager.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS

  • Support daily manufacturing activities:
      • Assemble tool-assemblies as prescribed by the CNC Programmer.
      • Pre-set tools to the proper protrusion and placed into the tool changers
      • Load all tool-offsets into the tool offset register
      • Set-up workpieces in the location and orientation as instructed by the programmer
      • Report any operational issues to the Operations manager or the CNC programmer
      • Maintain all cutting tools and hardware in good operating condition
      • Utilize the consumable dispensing unit to withdraw the required consumables
      • Work together with the CNC programmer to ensure that the machine does not sit idle waiting for a program
  • Duties may not be all inclusive.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Proficient in the use of precision measuring instruments, such as but not limited to micrometers
  • Comply with all company policies, procedures, and safety requirements
  • Maintain work area in accordance with 5S requirements
  • Read and comprehend written and verbal instructions
  • Use fork trucks, cranes, and other mobile equipment
  • Communicate effectively and work independently or as a team member
  • Extensive attention to detail
  • Ability to cope with an environment where priorities can change in a moment’s notice.
  • Knowledge of the latest technology cutting-tools.
  • Knowledge of metal removal processes.
  • Knowledge of material properties, especially Inconel, Stellite, 304/316/318 Stainless, 2205 Stainless, 17-4PH Stainless, Alloy-Steels.
  • Knowledge of feeds and speeds for material removal.
  • Ability to be self-directed, prioritize work and perform multiple tasks
  • Ability to project a positive, professional image to customers and vendors.
  • Computer literacy in MS Office Products
  • Trade School, Associates degree or similar skill set gained through work experience

 

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL QUALIFICATIONS

Requires ability to work in a manufacturing environment, which may include exposure to varying temperatures and noise levels, dust, dirt, fumes, welding machines, heavy duty magnets and manual/remote controlled devices using radio signals.  Physical conditions for positions: Sit, stand, walk, bend, reach, push, pull, kneel, stoop, crouch, climb, grasp, ascend/descend stairs and ladders, maneuver within tight spaces, routinely lift up to 50 lbs. Must have visual acuity, excellent mobility, good hearing, manual dexterity, good balance, ability to endure long hours, excellent problem solving skills, and wear required personal protective equipment.  All tasks performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
