Position Overview
The Painter is responsible for prepping and painting the surfaces of the water control gates and ancillary equipment.
Key Responsibilities and Tasks
- Apply a variety of industrial coatings to stationary, fabricated metal products, using hand-held spray guns/equipment
- Paint small items and apply touch-ups using paint brushes/rollers
- Responsible for the application of industrial coatings in confined spaces
- Operate or tend equipment to clean, wash, strip, sand, remove corrosion, fill dents or otherwise prepare items for application of paint or other protective coatings
- Select appropriate paint or mix paints using automated paint mixing equipment according to a pre-determined formula
- Utilize instrumentation to measure painting parameters to ensure compliance with OEM specifications
- Suggest tools and equipment to improve the operation of the unit
- Clean and maintain painting and coating, ventilation, compressed air and personal protective equipment
- Control (expiry of products etc.) and organize paint materials stock in line with Andritz policies
- Assist to appropriately rig large objects for the purpose of moving them in the process of applying the industrial coatings
- Assist in the maintenance of a clean and safe work environment and observe good safety habits
- Adhere to all company policies Procedures with respect to the storage and handling of materials in the area
- Perform blasting and other pre-painting activities on parts in preparation for painting/ fabrication
- Responsible for reporting malfunctions of equipment or processing to the supervisor.
- In slow periods perform other tasks such as 5s activities, grinding, de-burring, assembly, and other duties given to him by his supervisor.
Requirements
- High School Diploma
- Minimum 5 years’ experience
Preferred Requirements
- SSPC QP1 Certification
