Role:

 

The Legal Counsel – APAC (excluding China) will provide comprehensive legal support to local management and operational teams across ANDRITZ’s offices in the Asia Pacific region. This includes countries such as Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, Indonesia, Australia, Japan, the Philippines, Nepal, and others. The role is part of the local core legal team and serves as a cross-functional resource for ANDRITZ’s diverse business divisions in the region.

 

The primary focus of this role is on domestic and international supply-related contracts, including contract negotiation, risk mitigation, and transactional support. The Legal Counsel will also manage commercial disputes, litigation, and provide legal risk assessments and practical project management advice to internal stakeholders.

 

The position requires close collaboration with business teams not only in India but also in other APAC offices and at ANDRITZ’s European headquarters.

 

Profile:

 

We are seeking a qualified lawyer, educated at a reputable Indian law school, with strong academic credentials and a solid commercial legal background. The ideal candidate will have 10 to 12 years of post-qualification experience, gained at a leading MNC. Experience in infrastructure or industrial projects will be considered a strong advantage.

 

The candidate should possess a deep understanding of public procurement processes, including public tenders, contract structuring, and subcontracting. A demonstrated ability to work across multiple jurisdictions and handle internationally recognized standard forms of contract is essential. Familiarity with FIDIC, World Bank, and NEC contract frameworks will be particularly valuable.

Responsibilities:

 

  • Draft, review, and negotiate supply, service, and project contracts to ensure legal compliance and commercial viability.

 

  • Provide legal support on contractual obligations, project execution, and commercial operations, ensuring alignment with internal policies and risk frameworks.
  • Conduct legal research on applicable laws, regulations, and industry practices to support contract negotiations and business decisions.
  • Prepare Power of Attorneys, Board Resolutions, and other legal-administrative documents required for business operations and corporate governance.
  • Advise on claims, dispute resolution, and litigation strategy, including coordination with external counsel and preparation of relevant documentation.
  • Maintain contract and legal data repositories and undertake internal reporting, including tracking of risk items, milestones, and compliance actions.
  • Create presentations and training material for internal stakeholders and management, including risk overviews, contract summaries, and regulatory updates.

Key Requirements:

 

  • 10-12 years of post-qualification experience in a reputed law firm or international corporation, preferably in commercial or infrastructure projects.
  • Law degree from a recognized university.
  • Strong drafting and negotiation skills, with attention to legal and commercial detail.
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities, with comfort interacting across all organizational levels.
  • Proficient in MS Office tools, especially PowerPoint and Excel, for reporting, analysis, and presentations.
  • Analytical mindset with sound judgment, capable of handling complex legal and business scenarios.
  • Self-driven and organized, able to manage multiple priorities independently.
  • High integrity and professional ethics in all interactions
  • Required to be present in the office 5 days a week.
  • Willingness to travel for engagements.
