General Description

 

This Process Engineer is responsible for improving site manufacturing efficiency and profitability by designing, optimizing, and monitoring production processes, resulting in increased output quality, reduced costs, and enhanced compliance, ultimately driving customer satisfaction and business growth.  A significant focus will be on mechanical roll services.  In this lead role, the Process Engineer is expected to analyze present workflow and functions, make recommendations to management for improvements, and implement those improvements after approval while assuring consistency across plants. This role is intended to be a mentoring and lead position as new process engineers are hired in the other plants. Travel of up to 1 week per month to a different plant is expected in support of maintaining common best practices, workscope and process consistency across plant sites. 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS

 

  • Provide written procedures for each operation in the form of ISO 9001 procedures to ensure the consistent and proper manufacturing of all products.
  • Work with production, engineering and administrative personnel in the implementation of new processes.
  • Work with the Product group to assure a promotable, efficient and profitable mechanical services product line.
  • Provide day-to-day (troubleshooting) technical support and assistance regarding correction of problems with manufacturing processes, equipment, nonconformances, and process variation, etc.
  • Ensure that new procedures and/or processes are implemented on a timely basis to include communications, training, and follow-up for both production and supervisory personnel.
  • Develop new or modified procedures and processes to improve quality and/or cost.
  • Cover other areas of Manufacturing and Quality Assurance as required.
  • Perform work on special projects or assignments as required by Manager.
  • Participate in new product/process development programs with on-site experimental work.
  • Solve operating and product problems and continuously improve existing products and processes.
  • Participate in the transfer of technology to and from other Service Centers and divisions.
  • Assist with internal quality audits as scheduled.

 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Education: Undergraduate degree or equivalent.
  • Experience: 5-7 years of experience in manufacturing setting preferred.
  • Must be familiar with statistical methods.
  • Must have good analytical, computer, communication, and people skills.

Ability to travel to our other plants as needed
