Job description: 

BRIEF DESCRIPTION

Operates large manual machines of various descriptions and functions. Performs and assists in other manufacturing functions as needed.

 

 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs all assigned duties in a safe and efficient manner
  • Sets up and operates manual controlled machine tools to mill, drill, tap, turn, bore, slot, grind, and or assemble a variety of parts of various alloys and materials to quality and time standards set by the organization
  • Performs in process and final inspections as required.
  • Reads and interprets engineering drawings and blueprints
  • Uses various types of precision instruments, such as dial indicators, verniers, and micrometers
  • Maintains open communication and suggests methods and programming improvement to management
  • Keeps accurate paperwork and exhibit 5S standards through a clean and orderly work area
  • Continuously improves profitability through improving safety, quality, reducing manufacturing costs, reducing lead times, and working as a team member
  • Operates overhead cranes and fork trucks as required for material staging
  • Works in other operational areas when required, other duties as assigned
  • Ability to set up and efficiently operate horizontal lathes and drill presses, as well as internal and external grinders
  • Proficiently perform layout operations for on necessary parts per engineered drawings

SCHOOL EDUCATION

 

Minimum

High School Education or Relevant Technical Training

Desirable

Completion of a post-secondary educational program in Machining

 

EXPERIENCE

 

Minimum

Demonstrated proficiency in machine operation

Desirable

Excellent machining skills (5+ years experience) and proficiency in reading and interpreting complex engineering drawings and specifications
