PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN

 

Purpose Statement

Perform installation, preventative, routine, and repair maintenance tasks on electronic, electrical, and mechanical equipment as well as diagnose problems in order to minimize downtime and repair costs.

Job responsibilities and tasks

  • Production maintenance, diagnosis, troubleshooting, installation, and repair of equipment, machinery, and operating systems through interpretation of drawings, schematics and wiring diagrams as well as the use of electronic knowledge and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Maintains and repairs robotics, computer numeric control (CNC) consoles, programmable controllers and related apparatus as well as utilizing electronic theory and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance involving mechanics, pneumatics, hydraulics, programmable controllers and electronics/electrical equipment.
  • Maintains, installs, and repairs equipment, machinery, and plant facility's electrical/electronic systems through interpreting schematics and/or wiring diagrams and efficient use of electronic testing and measuring   instruments.
  • Assist in the installation of equipment in capital and facility projects.
  • Maintain inventory of maintenance shop supplies.
  • Must be able to communicate with all levels of staff, work independently or as a team, and keep area clean and orderly while maintaining 5S standards.

Education, professional experience and qualification preferred/required

  • Technical Associate's Degree or equivalent experience in industrial maintenance
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting complex drawings and schematics
  • Experience with the use of precision measuring and test devices and possess solid math skills
  • Must have basic knowledge with Microsoft Office Packages
  • Maintenance Technicians I, II & III are based on specific critical skills as defined in Addendum M l
  • Comply with all Company policies, procedures, and safety requirements
  • Maintain work area in accordance with 5S requirements
  • Complete all qualifications and trainings as required to achieve and maintain skill level
  • Read and comprehend written and verbal instructions
  • Use fork trucks, floor cranes, high lifts, and other mobile equipment
  • Participate in activities to improve safety, quality, and reduce manufacturing costs and lead times
  • Communicate effectively and work independently or as a team member
  • Accurately complete required documentation and reports

Physical and Mental Qualifications

Requires ability to work in a manufacturing environment, which may include exposure to varying temperatures and noise levels, dust, dirt, fumes, welding machines, heavy duty magnets and manual/remote controlled devices using radio signals.  Physical conditions for positions: Sit, stand, walk, bend, reach, push, pull, kneel, stoop, crouch, climb, grasp, ascend/descend stairs and ladders (to include working from elevated platforms), maneuver within tight spaces, routinely lift up to 50 lbs. Must have visual acuity, excellent mobility, good hearing, manual dexterity, good balance, ability to endure long hours, and wear required personal protective equipment.  All tasks performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
