The CNC Machinist sets up and operates CNC machines to produce precision parts, ensuring adherence to engineering specifications. Responsibilities include programming machines, performing inspections, troubleshooting, and maintaining safety and quality standards. The role also involves operating material handling equipment, recording production data, and supporting process improvements in a clean and organized work environment.
Responsibilities may include, but are not necessarily limited to the following:
- Performs all assigned duties in a safe and efficient manner, adhering to safety protocols at all times.
- Efficiently sets up and operates multi-axis CNC lathes, CNC milling machines, and CNC grinders, ensuring all parts are produced to engineering drawings.
- Reads and interprets engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications to determine machining processes, tool requirements, and sequence of operations.
- Programs CNC machines to create parts with precise tolerances and dimensions.
- Performs in-process and final inspections using precision instruments such as micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, and other measuring devices to ensure parts meet specifications.
- Troubleshoots and adjusts CNC machine settings, ensuring optimal performance and part quality.
- Maintains open communication with management and colleagues, suggesting methods for process improvements, machine programming adjustments, and tooling enhancements.
- Keeps accurate records, such as production data, inspection reports, and maintenance logs, and follows 5S principles to ensure a clean and organized work area.
- Continuously works toward improving productivity and profitability by enhancing safety, reducing lead times, improving part quality, and minimizing manufacturing costs.
- Operates overhead cranes, fork trucks, and other material handling equipment as required for loading and staging materials for machining processes.
- Flexibility to work in other operational areas as needed and perform additional tasks as assigned.
- Executes layout operations as necessary to verify and measure parts in accordance with engineered drawings.
When selecting candidates, we will be looking for the following essential skills, abilities, and experience:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Prior work experience in CNC Machine operation and/or industrial manufacturing
Other valued, but non-essential skills, abilities, and experience include:
- Successful completion of a post-secondary technical or vocational training program
- Prior working experience in Manual Machine operation.
- Strong interest in mechanical work and manufacturing processes
