PRIMARY FUNCTION:  Performs general labor work in or about the plant.

TOOLS & EQUIPMENT:  Hand tools such as wrenches, hammers, pliers, screwdrivers, hoists, trash compactor, cleaning implements such as floor buffers, vacuum cleaners, washer-dryer, rakes, shovels, etc.

MATERIALS:  Oil-dri, solvents, disinfectants, detergents, scrap, lumber, storeroom supplies, etc.

SOURCE OF SUPERVISION:  Supervisor/Foremen

DIRECTION EXERCISED:  None

WORKING PROCEDURE:

1. Receive work instructions from supervisor.
2. Uses picks, shovels, brooms and wheelbarrows in gathering debris, scrap, etc.
3. Performs general clean-up work in office and shop areas such as offices, around machinery, or restrooms, etc.
4. Maintains inventory of supplies at defined levels, notifying supervisor when additional stock should be requisitioned.
5. Performs a variety of unskilled, manual tasks to assist other maintenance personnel, as assigned, such as holding, positioning and aligning materials, tightening or dismantling parts, preparation of surfaces.
6. Removes snow and ice from walks, parking lots, driveway.
7. Responsible for performance of duties and for good housekeeping in immediate work area.
8. Cooperates with and receives assistance from other shop personnel in the performance of work functions.
