The Project Engineer provides process and mechanical engineering support, calculations and equipment sizing for a wide variety of air pollution control projects: baghouse fabric filters, circulating dry scrubbers, sorbent injection equipment, material handling systems, regenerative thermal oxidizers, and wet electrostatic precipitators.

What You Will Be Doing

Here’s an overview of your responsibilities and how you can leverage your expertise:

  • Perform mass and energy balances, heat transfer calculations, pressure drop calculations
  • Review technical documents and specifications
  • Develop cost estimates of equipment and services
  • Work closely with application engineers in the sales department to ensure there are no gaps between proposal stage and post-contract stage regarding project scope, budget, and guarantees, providing cost-benefit analysis on new projects
  • Utilize AutoCAD to create piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), process flow diagrams (PFDs), logic diagrams, and instrument location drawings
  • Write technical specifications for process instrumentation and equipment such as pressure/temperature transmitters, pitot tubes, level switches, fans, pumps, burners, etc.
  • Approve quotes and generate purchase requisitions based on evaluation of performance curves, operating parameters, and customer specifications
  • Correspond with our vendors, clients, engineering firms, partner companies, etc.
  • Create functional descriptions, training presentations, start-up checklists, instrument lists, and operation manuals
  • Coordinate project execution efforts between departments: mechanical, electrical, structural, purchasing, and project managers
  • Travel occasionally to attend meetings, participate in sales efforts, perform studies/audits, start-up, commissioning, and troubleshooting support

What We're Looking For

When selecting candidates, we will be looking for the following essential skills, abilities, and experience:

  • BS in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering
  • 3+ years of experience working as a mechanical or chemical engineer

Other Valued Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Design and field experience with heavy industrial equipment is a plus
