Brief Description
The Project Accountant will oversee the financial aspects of projects, budget tracking, ensuring accurate reporting, and compliance with company polices. The ideal candidate will work closely with project managers, finance teams, and external stakeholders to support successful project execution.
Key Responsibilities
• Monitor and manage project budgets, forecasts, and cost tracking.
• Effectively communicate with Project Managers, and maintain contract documents, change orders, approvals, and any additional project related records.
• Prepare timely and accurate billing for project managers to review.
• Assist in the preparation of project cash flow projections.
• Research any unbilled issues to optimize the billing possibilities for the billing period.
• Provide the accounts payables team with advice on client billings, purchase orders, and reimbursable expenses.
• Prepare and review monthly project financial reports and variance analyses.
• Generate and distribute bi-monthly receivables reports and monthly profitability reports.
• Set up new projects, input contracts, and project budget into accounting software.
• Review weekly time sheets with Project Managers.
• Identify and resolve accounting discrepancies and issues related to project financials.
• Assist with month end close processes.
• Recommend and implement agreed process improvements.
• Perform other duties assigned by Supervisor.

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business required.
• Strong understanding of project accounting principles and construction contracts.
• 2-5 years’ experience as a project accountant, or similar function, in a construction industry.
• Experience with Sage Intacct accounting software and CRE (Project Management Module) strongly preferred.
• Extensive experience with Microsoft Excel.
• Detailed knowledge of project contracts and change-order documents.
• Ability to travel when required, not to exceed 5%
