Job Summary:
The EPS Design Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and improving electrical power systems and equipment to ensure efficient and reliable operation. This role involves preparing and evaluating tender and construction packages, conducting field surveys, and performing detailed calculations to meet safety standards and specifications. The EPS Design Engineer collaborates with cross-functional teams to manage projects, analyse power system studies, and provide recommendations for system upgrades. By leveraging technical expertise and industry knowledge, the EPS Design Engineer contributes to the successful execution of power plant and transmission/distribution projects, ensuring compliance with customer requirements and regulatory standards.
Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, maintain, and improve electrical power system solutions for company purposes.
- Design and commission industrial HV, MV and LV electrical power systems, including electrical equipment layout, equipment specifications, motor control, grounding systems, and cable and raceway sizing and layouts.
- Design electrical power system facilities and equipment, and coordinate construction, and maintenance of electric power generating, receiving, and distribution systems and equipment.
- Prepare and study technical drawings and specifications of electrical systems to ensure that installation and operations conform to safety standards and customer requirements.
- Operate computer-assisted engineering and design software, AutoCAD (mandatory) and ETAP (optional).
- Prepare and evaluate tender and construction packages, including electrical and instrumentation drawings, installation specifications, and other supporting documentation.
- Experience in power plant or transmission/distribution projects with PLN and IPPs, within tender preparation and project execution.
- Prepare drawings and specific types of equipment and materials to be used in construction and equipment installation.
- Coordinate manufacturing, construction, installation, maintenance, support, documentation, and testing activities to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, and customer requirements.
- Coordinate operation and maintenance activities to ensure optimum utilization of power system facilities and meet customer demands for electrical energy.
- Conduct field surveys and write reports regarding existing and potential electrical engineering studies and projects.
- Analyse results of power systems studies and provide recommendations, assist organizations with upgrading client’s electrical systems, and prepare cost estimates and bid proposals.
- Perform detailed calculations to compute and establish manufacturing, construction, and installation standards according to safety aspects, standards, and specifications.
- Communicate with suppliers to obtain and confirm information on products necessary to complete electrical schematics and layouts.
- Conduct field surveys and write reports regarding existing and potential electrical engineering studies and projects.
- Analyse results of power systems studies and provide recommendations, assist organizations with upgrading client’s electrical systems, and prepare cost estimates and bid proposals.
- Perform detailed calculations to compute and establish manufacturing, construction, and installation standards according to safety aspects, standards, and specifications.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree (S1) in electrical engineering studies from a reputable university
Pre-requisite: Indonesian citizen
Experience:
Minimum three (3) years of proven experience in the same field and company’s business line
Technical Skills (knowledge):
- Advanced skills in industry-specific software tools such as AutoCAD, MATLAB, ETAP, and other simulation and analysis tools.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office including MS Project.
- Fluent in English, both oral and written.
- Effective communication skills to work with cross-functional teams and stakeholders, and to prepare detailed technical documentation and reports.
- Familiarity with industry standards, codes, and regulations related to electrical power systems.
- Proficiency in analysing and modelling electrical power systems to ensure stability, reliability, and efficiency.
- Expertise in designing and analysing electrical circuits, including both analogue and digital circuits.
- Understanding of control theory and its application in power systems to maintain system stability and performance
- Knowledge of designing substations, including layout, equipment selection, and integration with the overall power system.
- Able to work independently
- Eager to learn new things
- Knowledge of ISO & OHSAS is an advantage.
- Project Management.
- Knowledge in hydro turbines and generators, including their auxiliaries.
- Understanding of BIM would be advantageous but not mandatory
