BRIEF DESCRIPTION
Reporting to the Plant Manager, the position is responsible for assisting with creating and communicating the overall safety and environmental program while identifying applicable regulations and risks at the Site level. The position will closely interact with Plant Operational Leaders and Production personnel, with a dotted reporting line to the Regional Manager HSE PFR NA.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Works closely with the Site’s functional leaders to develop, implement, and maintain a written workplace HSE Program at the local level. This will include ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 Certifications.
- Assists with establishing and implementing HSE programs to ensure the highest possible degree of workplace safety for employees, contractors, and guests while enabling us to reach our business goals.
- Conducts or directs efforts to identify hazards through monitoring to evaluate the safety of company systems and processes. Record and document findings through appropriate Andritz systems and forms. This shall include specific Job Hazard Analysis (JHA’s), and the Site’s Risk & Opportunities register.
- Serves as the resource for administering the following :
- Required training through the company’s Safety management program.
- Site SDS Management system including new chemical approvals.
- HSE management system.
- Sites Safety Committee Program
- BBS Champion role (when launched at the site)
- Assist in the preparation of incident investigations, reporting, recordkeeping, and metrics evaluation including customer generated information requests.
- Complete the monthly HSE Key Performance Indicators as required by Corporate. This includes Site Metrics for Annual targets/goals and the plan to achieve.
- Facilitate regular workplace and equipment inspections and audits including accurate documentation and timely closure of corrective actions. Maintain the plant’s Safety Action Log.
- Assists with establishing clear and visible safety and environmental awareness efforts at the local plant site level.
- Develops and implements appropriate emergency response systems in conjunction with the local plant site. This will include Site evacuation drills and Site Spill Containment exercises.
- Assist location management with general HSE related activities, reviews, and initiatives to support implementation and improvement. Heavy concentration in assuring documentation that meets corporate and regulatory requirements. Complete plant’s federal, state, provincial and city / town environmental reports (if required).
- Assist to implement pollution prevention programs at the local level.
- Assists with managing environmental processes to assure proper waste management and minimization practices in accordance with RCRA, TSCA, State, Provincial and local regulatory requirements. Update the plant’s ESG Cockpit Tool with environmental data (where required).
- Assists with managing environmental processes to assure proper surface and ground water management and spill and contingency planning. Perform periodic reviews and required reporting.
- Maintains a Daily Shop Floor Presence to be available to all employees on matters of HSE
- Performs other duties and projects as assigned by management.
