ANDRITZ HYDRO USA operates in a niche market that provides overhaul and rehabilitation to hydro power plants. The work encompasses a wide range of repair, replacement and improvement services to restore dependability and sustainability to hydro power facilities, or to increase capacity and/or efficiency. Projects range in size and scope, but routinely span from component assessment, design, and procurement to site installation and commissioning. Hydro power is recognized as the most economic form of renewable energy, and the company is committed to environmentally friendly concepts. 

 

Duties:

  • Inspects parts, assemblies and finished products in accordance with contract and corporate specifications; follow company’s inspection guidelines to conduct visual, dimensional, mechanical, electrical test and functional inspections on a wide variety of components, assemblies, equipment, systems, supplies and materials in the US and abroad.
  • Represent Andritz Hydro’s interests and communicate effectively with clients and vendors in a respectful and professional manner.
  • Prepare and maintain quality records and inspection reports.
  • Provide technical support to field service and engineering staff for welding expertise in the assembly, and installation of hydroelectric power components.
  • Investigate and document the root cause of non-conformances.
  • Conduct problem solving and resolution, collaborating with vendors, engineering, project     management, and customers.
  • Develop, implement and apply NDT techniques and procedures.
  • Apply knowledge of Quality Engineering methodologies and NDT methods for input to design reviews, failure analysis, quality program plans and construction documentation.
  • Develop and maintain healthy working relationships with clients, subcontractors and co-workers.
  • Inspection duties may include up to 90% travel.
     

Qualifications:

  • A BS degree in engineering (preferably in mechanical, electrical or material science) or equivalent professional experience
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in the hydropower industry or equivalent experience in an industrial construction environment.
  • NDT/NDE related technical experience OR High School Diploma or GED
  •  5+ years of experience in the hydropower industry preferred or an equivalent education and experience in an industrial construction or manufacturing environment.
  • CWI or possess the education and experience required to qualify for certification and a working knowledge of ASME and AWS Codes.
  • NDT/NDE related technical experience and/or qualified to pass Level 2 certification in RT, UT, PT, and/or MT is a plus. 
  • Laser metrology experience with machined parts is a plus.
  • Ability and experience with typical equipment, such as micrometers, Vernier calipers, height gauges, dial indicators, oscilloscopes, component testers and the like.
  • MS office suite compatible for correspondence and reporting.

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, complex engineering drawings and procedure manuals. 
  • While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; talk or hear; and frequently required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. 
  • Able to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds or more.
  • MS office suite compatible for correspondence and reporting.

  • Write local procedures
  • Conduct and steer root cause analysis

  • To stop work activities in the event of QHSE issue
  • Accept or reject testing results and items of work
  • Create inspection planning within budget for the project
  • To measure or direct the verification of the features of components
