ANDRITZ HYDRO USA operates in a niche market that provides overhaul and rehabilitation to hydro power plants. The work encompasses a wide range of repair, replacement and
improvement services to restore dependability and sustainability to hydro power facilities, or to increase capacity and/or efficiency. Projects range in size and scope, but routinely span from component assessment, design, and procurement to site installation and commissioning. Hydro power is recognized as the most economic form of renewable energy, and the company is committed to environmentally friendly concepts.
ROLE DESCRIPTION:
Major responsibilities are listed but not limited to the following duties:
- Develop site installation procedures for disassembly, refurbishment and reassembly of
- components. Components may include turbine runners, discharge rings, wicket gates,
- wicket gate mechanism/bushings, headcover/bottom ring, stay vanes, distributor/stay
- rings, guide bearings, brackets, shafts, generator stator/rotor, exciter stator/rotor,
- collector rings and brush rigging.
- Develop quality requirements for installation of components, including site inspection
- and test plans and engineering data record sheets.
- Support unit alignment and assembly of critical components.
- Resolve installation issues related to projects.
- Review contractual specifications, designs and technical documentation.
- Interface with clients regarding installation matters.
- Assist the Sales Department in the bid for installation issues.
- Provide assistance to Project Management in installation tasks related to the
- refurbishment of hydro-turbines and related equipment.
- Travel may be required for critical installation work or to resolve installation issues.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- 3+ years experience in mechanical design of heavy industrial components.
- P.E. license preferred.
COMPETENCIES:
- 3D / 2D CAD proficiency preferred. AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor, Siemens NX.
- Working knowledge in capital equipment, welding, custom fabrication, and/or piping.
- Experience designing large rotation equipment.
- Detailed oriented.
- Ability to prioritize work and maintain deadlines.
