Within the project management team in Chambly (Automation group), the Systems Engineer will be responsible for the technical scope of automation and electrical systems, from concept definition through commissioning. The role will serve as a technical reference and central point of coordination between engineering, procurement, suppliers, the plant, the site, and the client, while remaining actively involved in detailed engineering.

 

The following responsibilities form the core of this role in our Canadian team. 

 

Project Management Responsibilities
•    Ensure effective communication between engineering, procurement, manufacturing, installation, and project controls teams.
•    Define the technical strategy as well as supply and manufacturing plans, in collaboration with the relevant Project Manager and the procurement and manufacturing teams.
•    Coordinate interfaces between the various engineering groups and the client.
•    Monitor detailed technical progress and proactively address deviations.
•    In collaboration with the Project Director, analyze, define, and implement contingency plans to correct any issue or deviation that could impact the projects.
•    Manage technical changes after the design freeze or those requested by the client.
•    Be responsible for the technical, quality, cost, and schedule objectives within the assigned scope.

 

Technical Responsibilities
•    Perform basic engineering for automation and electrical systems.
•    Prepare technical specifications, calculations, architecture, and equipment lists.
•    Ensure that stakeholders properly interpret technical specifications and expectations.
•    Participate in the selection, negotiation, and technical discussions with key suppliers and subcontractors.
•    Organize and facilitate internal technical activity and design review meetings.
•    Review and approve technical system documentation.
•    Ensure that engineering document deliverables and site deliverables are completed on time and in accordance with established quality criteria for all systems related to the projects.
•    Prepare and contribute to final documentation following commissioning, including as-built and O&M documentation.

•    Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Automation, or an equivalent field.
•    5 to 10 years of experience in industrial project engineering.
•    Experience in industrial automation, electrical systems, or hydroelectric projects.
•    Demonstrated experience and leadership in the technical coordination of engineering and subcontracting activities.
•    Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec.
