Summary of the role 

As a member of the Protections & Controls Team, the main responsibilities of the Electrical Engineer, Control/Automation will be as follows:

  • Responsible for the electrical engineering of the control/automation system;
  • Develop the engineering plan in collaboration with the project manager;
  • Carry out project engineering with the collaboration of the technical team (technicians, CPI and engineers);
  • Coordinate/review progress with the technical team and the project manager;
  • Check and seal the drawings as well as the technical documentation produced under his supervision;
  • Participate in design review meetings with the client;
  • Supervise the development of the documents necessary for the manufacture of electrical panels;
  • Prepare and document system testing and validation procedures;
  • Participate/supervise acceptance tests with the client;
  • Monitor progress and support the electrical commissioning team;
  • Participate/supervise final tests on site during recommissioning;
  • Act as a mentor for junior engineers on other projects;
  • Participate in calls for tenders.

  • Bachelor degree in Electrical/Automation Engineering (Member of the OIQ);
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in electrical design of control/automation systems;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in French and English.
  • Quality of leader and mentor, while working in a team;
  • Experience in hydro power generation – an asset;
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to details;
  • Proven ability in analyzing and solving technical problems;
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical - an asset;
  • PLC and HMI programming, an asset;
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite;
  • Available for commissioning on site as required.
