B Fitter- Equipment Mechanic

Assembly Department

Tools & Equipment: Hand and power tools such as drills, grinders, saws, sanders, ipe threaders and hand tools.

Primary Function: To fit and assemble all components and complete machines.

Working Procedure:

Receives drawings insruction etc from the foreman.

Gathers material equipment, parts, subassemblies etc from inventory or storage area and moves to assembly area.

Plans assembly and fitting and erection procedures from drawing.

Checks material equipment and parts for defects.

Assembles into group assemblies purchased materials and parts.

Assembles large and or complex assemblies such as gear gases requiring very close tolerance.

Assembles complete machaine from component parts, subassemlies and assemblies.

Uses Measuring insturments such as dial indicators, scales, calipers, micrometers, squares, gauges, etc.

Reports defective material to foreman.

Lubricates equipment and maintains machine in clean area.
