Under the direction of  Capital Sales Director , the Estimator is responsible for estimating costs for new equipment, breaking down actual costs for existing equipment, and assisting the capital equipment sales effort in proposal preparation.

Requirements

 

Essential Duties, Responsibilities and Key Result Items

  • Reach out to Vendors and receive quotes for equipment, weldments, fabrications, various parts such as gearboxes, hydraulics. Etc.
  •  Generate accurate costs associated with new equipment and breakdown costs for existing equipment to be used as a reference for new proposals.
  • Ability to read and understand to the component level mechanical drawings.
  • Work closely with capital sales and other departments in proposal preparation.
  • Coordinate with Supply Chain Management to identify potential supplier agreements.
  • Maintain up-to-date costs using software tools that effect capital sales effort.
  • Interact and coordinate support to international product homes operating within the region.
  • Ability to generate and modify proposal drawings a plus.

 

Knowledge

  •  2D and 3D CAD experience required
  •  SAP experience preferred
  • Comprehensive use of Microsoft products with key focus on Excel required
  • Knowledge of mechanical equipment as applied to metals processing industry required

Job Specific Competencies

 

  • Confer with engineering, sales, and purchasing on changes and adjustments to cost estimates.
  • Analyze drawings and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimate.
  • Collect historical cost data to estimate costs for current or future products.
  • Assess cost effectiveness of products, projects, or services, tracking actual costs relative to bids as the sales effort develops.
  • Consult with vendors, and personnel in other departments.
  • Prepare estimates for use in selecting vendors or subcontractors.
  • Prepare estimates used by management for purposes such as planning, organizing, and scheduling work.
  • Set up cost monitoring and reporting systems and procedures.
  • Review material and labor requirements to decide whether it is more cost-effective to produce or purchase components.
  • Prepare cost and expenditure statements and other necessary documentation at regular intervals for the duration of the project.
  • Develop and establish standard hour labor estimates and related cost data.
  • Prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers, based upon product code.

 

Education and Experience

  • 2 year Technical degree preferred
  • 5 years of relative work experience, preferably in Metals Processing Industry
