Reporting to the North American Service Division for Andritz Feed & Biofuel, the Field Service Technician is responsible for providing on-site services to end customers in all the industries (Feed, Biomass, Pet Food, Extrusion, and Industrial) that Feed & Biofuel serves in the Canada and US, with additional regional responsibilities and potential travel outside North America. Most of your work would be within the Ontario/Quebec region.

 

The preferred location for this position is Blenheim, ON where our shop is located, however, we will welcome highly skilled and experienced candidates residing in other major cities in the area. 

 

Responsibilities may include but are not necessarily limited to the following:

  • Provide technical support and on-call response to customers, other Field Service Technicians, Sales Managers, and Aftermarket Account Managers
  • Actively participate in on-site assistance for start-ups and complex repair work
  • Perform technical tasks (read & understand mechanical drawings, flow diagrams, and schematics, troubleshoot & identify mechanical, installation, or construction defects and/or poorly performing equipment. Perform measurements using Verniers, Micrometers, Dial Indicators, etc.
  • Assist Customer Account Managers in identifying parts needed for repair, rebuild, or warranty prior to service work date
  • Participate in trade shows and customer training sessions
  • Timely completion of standard service reports, invoicing packages, and other administrative requirements
  • Maintain site safe work practices during work scope execution
  • Must carry a Company cell phone and be on call to assist with emergencies
  • Special projects as assigned/required

 

When selecting candidates, we will be looking for the following essential skills, abilities, and experience:

  • BS/BA degree in related discipline or relevant work experience preferred
  • SAP experience preferred
  • Basic understanding of pelleting, grinding and other ancillary processes
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, understanding of assembly/disassembly of equipment
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision in the field both independently and with other Service Technicians
  • Must be self-motivated and have ability to handle multiple tasks
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written
  • Strong math skills
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada on a full time basis

 

Travel Requirements:

Travel extensively (on short notice, as needed via private/public transportation) within North America (Canada & USA) without restrictions. Minimal potential for international travel. Overnight travel approximately 70%

 

Must be able to train in Blenheim ON, Muncy PA (USA), and Garden City GA (USA) manufacturing facilities for an extended period of time at initial hiring, while also traveling to field sites with current technicians for on-the-job training.
