Purpose Statement

Reporting to the Regional Product Manager for North American PES Threading, this position is responsible for providing on-site threading services to end customers on all machines that require web threading. Ideal candidate would reside within 90 minutes of regional airport along the eastern seaboard. Candidates from westcoast or Quebec would also be considered.  

Job responsibilities and tasks

  • Provide technical product field support for Andritz and other OEM threading systems;
  • Support customers and sales account managers with comprehensive threading audits    
  • Actively participate in on-site assistance for start-ups and optimization;
  • Perform technical tasks (read & understand mechanical drawings, flow diagrams, and schematics, mechanical and controls troubleshooting
  • Support sales and customer training sessions;
  • Timely completion of standard service reports, invoicing packages, and other administrative requirements;
  • Maintain site safe work practices during work scope execution;
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Education, professional experience, and qualification preferred/required

  • Stong understanding of paper making and threading process is preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, understanding of assembly/ disassembly of equipment
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision in the field both independently and with other Service Technicians
  • Must be self-motivated and have ability to handle multiple tasks
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written

 

Physical and Mental Qualifications

Position performed in an office and/or home office (remote) environment.  Visits to mills and manufacturing facilities are required.  Exposure to varying temperatures, noise levels, dust, dirt, fumes, welding machines, heavy duty magnets, and manual/remote controlled devices using radio signals.  Physical conditions for position: Sit, stand, walk, bend, reach, push, pull, kneel, stoop, crouch, climb, ascend/descend stairs, and lift up to 25 lbs.  Must have visual acuity, excellent mobility, good hearing, manual dexterity, good balance, ability to endure long hours, and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).  All tasks performed with or without reasonable accommodations.

Travel percentage (include country or region name)

Travel extensively (on short notice, as needed via private / public transportation) within North America (USA & Canada, without restrictions).  Minimal potential for international travel.  Overnight travel approximately 70%;

Must be able to train in Muncy (PA), Garden City (GA), and Blenheim (ON, Canada) manufacturing facilities for an extended period of time at initial hiring, while also traveling to field sites with current technicians for on-the-job training.
