POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Reporting to the Vice President Supply Chain North America, the Senior Director of Project Procurement and Quality, will have the primary responsibilities as outlined below:

  • Provide leadership direction and oversight to a team of Project Procurement Managers and Project Quality Managers supporting various Divisions.
  • Help define and execute the Project Procurement strategy with input from the project team within the businesses supported, Sales, Engineering, Quality and Management
  • Help define and execute the detailed Project Procurement Plan (on plan and at or below budget)
  • Conduct RFP’s (Request for Proposals) for all components of the Procurement Plan
  • Manage supplier contracts upon award in collaboration with Legal, Business leadership and key Quality & Supply Chain leadership team members
  • Work closely with engineering for timely release of design packages
  • Engage Early Vendor Involvement (EVI) when required
  • Work with key vendors, quality, and engineering to define more cost-effective design for manufacturing.
  • Source and negotiate pricing with suppliers
  • Proactively seek alternate sources of supply, as required
  • Negotiate commercial contracts/POs and seek support from legal as needed
  • Enforce commercial terms and conditions and all contractual requirements
  • Prepare offer evaluation summaries and make vendor recommendations
  • Hold regular follow up and schedule analysis of vendor schedules for critical long cycles scopes
  • Communicate with Project team and engineers for project details (budgets, requisitions, specifications, delivery dates, etc.)
  • Follow procurement procedures and policy as well as spend approval policy
  • Analyze spend data and identify key vendors for contracts
  • Work closely with Project Commercial Manager to revise procurement forecasts, track risks and responsibilities
  • Assist in the negotiation of supplier claims (passive and active)
  • Ensure suppliers have the appropriate documentation to proceed with work
  • Ensure suppliers maintain and submit all required quality documentation
  • Manage the supplier development process with shop audits for capabilities and quality management programs and supporting documentation for recommendation to the business.
  • Coordinate the evaluation and testing of new suppliers as needed by the business
  • Help define and execute the Project Quality strategy with input from the project team within the businesses supported. (Sales, Engineering, Quality and Management)
  • Help define and execute the detailed Project Quality Plan
  • Create and manage Quality inspection & test plans with support from the business
  • Coordinate witness / hold points and documentation as required by the business
  • Support the business with updates to current trends in Quality
  • Reporting as required by stakeholders or executive management
  • Collaborate with leadership, business leads and quality to develop supplier category strategies for the key fabrication needs of the business (s) supported
  • Utilization of all required eSourcing and Quality management software
  • Cross functional training as required
  • Other duties as assigned

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:  

What we look for:

  • 10 plus years of experience in a procurement role
  • Experience with SAP purchasing software ideal
  • Experience with purchase of fabricated materials, machined parts, and services.
  • Ability to read shop/mechanical drawings preferred
  • Demonstrated experience in negotiating prices and terms and conditions
  • Experience in commercial contracts
  • Intermediate to Advanced level of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work under pressure
  • Ability to clearly communicate, deliver presentations, simplify, explain variances and issues to a team and propose solutions
  • Demonstrated positive relationships with internal/external customers
  • Project Management and Quality Management experience is a plus
  • Knowledge of market trends and purchasing best practices
  • Employs fair, ethical and transparent procurement practices
  • Ability to travel approximately 25% - 30% domestically and internationally

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor of Science in Supply Chain Management, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering, Business.  Master’s degree and/or PMP, CMQ/OE certifications are preferred.
