Job Title: Senior Foreign Trade Compliance Manager – North America

 

Location: Alpharetta, Georgia (remote candidates considered)

 

Job Summary: The Senior Foreign Trade Compliance Manager – North America will oversee and manage all aspects of export control and customs compliance activities. This role ensures that the company adheres to all relevant regulations and laws, optimizing the efficiency of international trade operations while minimizing risks.  This position reports to the Regional Compliance Officer – North   America with dotted-line reporting to the President – North America and the Global Manager Export Control. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Compliance Management: Ensure compliance with all applicable export control laws, customs regulations, and trade agreements.
  • Policy Implementation: Implement the Group Sanctions and Export Control Policy and related export control and customs compliance procedures and processes in the North American affiliates of the ANDRITZ Group (17 entities, approximately 3,250 employees).
  • Risk Assessment: Conduct regular risk assessments and audits to identify and mitigate potential trade compliance issues.
  • Product Classification:  Ensure accurate classification of materials and products in accordance with export control regulations (ECCN or “EAR99”) and customs regulations (HS Code)
  • Due Diligence Screening:  Process automatically generated emails from the ASAP-GTS system flagging high-risk business partners and transactions.  
  • Training and Education: Provide training and guidance to staff on export control and customs regulations and best practices.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records and documentation for all export/import activities and prepare necessary reports for regulatory authorities.
  • Liaison: Act as the primary point of contact with customs authorities, brokers, and other regulatory bodies.
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement changes to enhance efficiency and compliance.
  • Coordination and Knowledge Sharing:  Coordinate with the Global Manager Export Control (GMEX) and participate in monthly Jour Fixe.
  • Leadership: Communicate and coordinate with local export control managers to ensure consistent trade compliance practices across locations. 

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in International Trade, Business Administration, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 4-6 years of experience in export control and customs compliance, with at least 3 years in a managerial role.
  • Skills:
    • Strong knowledge of international trade regulations and customs laws including Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Proficiency in using trade compliance software and tools.
    • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
