- Support fabrication shops and suppliers with welding quality expectations, inspection readiness, and process controls
- Partner with Engineering to translate drawings, specifications, and tolerances into executable quality and inspection plans
- Verify product conformance across fabrication stages (cutting, welding, machining, assembly)
- Lead root cause analysis, nonconformance resolution, and corrective/preventive actions
- Conduct and support supplier audits, qualification, and ongoing supplier quality oversight
- Serve as a technical quality interface with internal teams and external customers
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across fabrication, inspection, and supplier performance
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Materials, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline (Master’s a plus)
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Manufacturing Quality, Project Quality, or Fabrication Quality roles within pulp & paper, power, metals, chemical, or similar heavy industrial environments
- Hands-on exposure to fabrication and welding environments, with practical familiarity with AWS welding standards (AWS D1-level awareness)
- Strong working knowledge of machining, surface preparation, and mechanical testing methods
- Demonstrated ability to interpret engineering drawings/specifications and perform dimensional inspections
- Experience verifying compliance across multiple stages of fabrication and assembly
- Experience supporting or participating in supplier audits and supplier quality oversight (preferred)
- Experience with failure analysis, nonconformance resolution, and root cause analysis (RCA) (preferred)
- Familiarity with pulp & paper or heavy industrial equipment manufacturing is a plus
- Ability and willingness to travel internationally (occasional travel to Asia and Europe as required)
Minimum Required Experience (Resume Must Demonstrate)
- Experience in fabrication, welding, or heavy industrial manufacturing environments
- Quality experience tied to physical equipment and manufacturing processes (not software or IT systems)
- Direct involvement in inspection, fabrication quality, or supplier quality environments
Required Skills
- Working knowledge of fabrication, welding, and industrial shop environments
- Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, and tolerances
- Experience performing or supporting dimensional inspections and fabrication quality verification
- Practical awareness of AWS welding standards (D1-level familiarity)
- Experience supporting fabrication quality, inspection processes, or supplier quality activities
Preferred Skills
- Deeper application of AWS D1.1 / D1.6 and related welding codes
- Experience with supplier audits, ITP development, and fabrication quality planning
