ANDRITZ Metals USA designs and builds equipment for the processing of carbon steel, stainless steel, and non-ferrous metal including pickling lines, coating lines, levelers, cut to length lines, slitting lines as well as continuous or batch furnaces for reheating slabs, blooms, billets, and structural shapes. We specialize in supplying knives for metal processing equipment including shear blades, slitting knives and slitting spacers.  We also provide mill and coil processing equipment rebuild and retrofit.  Additionally we provide service parts and roll and knife regrind services for rolling mills and strip processors and provide a wide range of mechanical and electrical components for ANDRITZ equipment, as well as for many other brands in the industry. 

 

Under the direction of the Head of Procurement– AMUSA is responsible for managing and coordinating the procurement functions across all business segments of AMUSA to procure materials, supplies, equipment, and other items of required quality and cost for AMUSA.  Through direction of Head of Procurement, establish sources of supply, obtain quotations, negotiate purchases as to specifications, price, terms, delivery dates, etc. Responsible to personally negotiate major purchases.

 

Essential Duties, Responsibilities and Key Result Items
 

  1. Provide supplier management through vendor qualification, selection, assessment of vendor capabilities, alternate vendor sourcing, and evaluation of vendor quality performance.
  2. Support corporate group supply chain monitoring reporting, and evaluation.
  3. Strategically source key project purchases
  4. Recommends major purchases of materials based on anticipated changes in prices or on unusual availability situations.
  5. Support engineering and manufacturing quality control efforts through procurement team and supply chain management.
  6. Buying and Expediting all orders placed by oneself utilizing Andritz SAP for documents and report generation.  
  7. Able to read or understand engineered drawings, or show ability to learn this: (determining if a part is a weldment or needs machining, identify material and weights) of items that are sent to suppliers
  8. Department records include price histories to provide information on price variances to budget.
  9. Works closely with Sales department as needed to support estimating and delivery lead times.
  10. Support AMUSA large key (indirect) maintenance purchases if required.
  11. Potential travel to suppliers, domestic and international (less than 10% of total time)
  12. Potentially support indirect purchases as need be to support the overall building and shop operations

 

EDUCATION/REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Requires a bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 5 – 7 plus years of related purchasing experience.  Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. 
  2. Knowledge of raw materials, fabrications, manufacturing and production processes, quality control, cost management, and other techniques for maximizing effective purchasing techniques.
  3. Knowledge of budgets and financial statements.
  4. Experience with purchasing methods and best practices considering quality material, on time deliveries and cost savings through strategic sourcing, while executing a project with customer contract delivery needs being the first factor of consideration of all decisions
  5. Must be able to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  6. Excellent oral and written communications skills.
  7. Must excel at working with and creating a team environment.
  8. Excel at interacting and supporting project execution groups (Project Managers, Engineering), Finance, and plant operations
