Brief Description

Our Automation & Digitalization division is currently seeking Commissioning Specialist in the Morrilton, AR area. This position would be responsible for the commissioning the mills electrical and control systems.

 

Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities may include but are not necessarily limited to the following:

  • Perform pre commissioning (Phase 1), energized testing (Phase 2), and commissioning with materials (Phase 3) activities following project commissioning procedures (e.g., construction verification, cold/dry commissioning, hot/wet commissioning).
  • Execute system checkouts, point to point testing, functional testing, loop checks, and start up assistance.
  • Verify installation quality against engineering drawings, specifications, and QA/QC documentation (including redlining and as built updates).
  • Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, instrumentation, and control system issues during commissioning.
  • Interpret and validate electrical and mechanical drawings, wiring diagrams, P&IDs, control logic, and equipment documentation.
  • Provide technical clarification to contractors, vendors, and customer personnel on equipment installation requirements.
  • Support commissioning of equipment such as MCCs, PDCs, instrumentation, control systems (e.g., DCS/PLC), sensors, scanners, and ancillary systems.
  • Collaborate with project managers, installation supervisors, engineering teams, and field contractors to ensure readiness for commissioning activities.
  • Participate in daily/weekly commissioning meetings and provide status updates, punch list management, and progress reporting.
  • Assist vendor representatives and coordinate access, documentation, and testing activities.
  • Complete commissioning checklists, test records, NCR reports, punch lists, and daily commissioning logs.
  • Ensure all redlines are captured and submitted for as built updates.
  • Prepare and submit commissioning reports, turnover packages, and customer-facing documentation.
  • Adhere to all site-specific and corporate safety standards, including lockout/tagout, electrical safety, and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in required HSE training and ensure safe execution of all commissioning activities.

Qualifications (Required) 
When selecting candidates, we will be looking for the following essential skills, abilities, and experience:

  • Technical diploma, associate degree, or bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation, Mechanical Engineering, Automation, or equivalent experience.
  • 3–10 years of relevant experience in commissioning, start-up, industrial maintenance, field service, or system integration.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, conduit/cable installation standards, panel layouts, and instrumentation schematics.
  • Familiarity with DCS/PLC systems (e.g., Foxboro, Rockwell, Siemens, ABB—adjust per project).
  • Knowledge of industrial electrical equipment such as MCCs, PDCs, VFDs, sensors, and automation components. 
  • Proficiency in commissioning tools, instrumentation calibration, loop testing, and diagnostic techniques.
  • Resourceful, self-managed, and goal driven but still able to work effectively in a team;
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills (English);
  • Practical knowledge of North American standards;
  • Legally entitled to work in the USA;
  • Ability and willingness to travel to domestic and international sites (typically 5-20%).
